About The Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Specialist to join our dynamic team on a full-time basis. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day payroll operations, ensuring accurate processing of employee wages, benefits, and related reconciliations. The Payroll Specialist will serve as a key point of contact for payroll inquiries, troubleshoot issues, and support HR functions related to wage and hour reporting, employment verification, and compliance. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, a high level of integrity, and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality and security standards, particularly in handling sensitive employee information and PHI in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
Qualifications
An accounting or finance degree is preferred, or equivalent professional experience in payroll and finance roles.
A minimum of three years of payroll experience within a mid-sized organization is required.
Valid New Mexico Driver’s License with a clean driving record, along with current insurance coverage and access to a personal vehicle for travel to multiple office locations as needed.
Proficiency in 10-key by touch is essential.
Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and Windows Operating System are required.
Experience with Paylocity Payroll software is preferred, along with a solid understanding of general HR and benefits administration related to payroll processing.
Hands-on experience with computerized payroll and timekeeping systems, including payroll and benefit reconciliation, is necessary.
Knowledge of Federal and State reporting requirements related to payroll is essential.
Ability to uphold strict privacy and security standards in accordance with organizational policies, especially concerning PHI and HIPAA compliance.
Strong skills in organization, time management, attention to detail, communication, integrity, confidentiality, problem-solving, accountability, initiative, dependability, and maintaining a positive attitude are critical for success in this role.
Responsibilities
Compile and verify timesheets, ensuring management review and approval are completed accurately and timely.
Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve payroll and timecard discrepancies in collaboration with managers and staff.
Process and submit payroll on a bi-weekly schedule, ensuring accuracy and compliance with organizational policies.
Perform detailed payroll and benefit reconciliations to ensure data integrity and compliance with internal and external standards.
Transfer payroll and benefits data to benefit carriers efficiently and accurately.
Support HR functions by providing wage and hour reports, employment verifications, and assisting with compliance documentation.
Participate in year-end employee benefit audits, ensuring all documentation and reconciliations are completed thoroughly.
Maintain confidentiality and security of payroll data, adhering to HIPAA and organizational privacy standards.
Stay updated on relevant federal and state payroll regulations, ensuring organizational compliance at all times.
Assist in the continuous improvement of payroll processes and systems to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
