Controller | PE-Backed Multi-Site Platform | Remote
A rapidly growing, private equity-backed operating platform is seeking a Controller to help build and scale its finance organization as the company executes an aggressive acquisition and roll-up strategy.
The business is acquiring and integrating multi-location operating companies across the U.S. and is building the centralized infrastructure needed to support significant future growth.
This is not a maintenance accounting role. The person joining will have the opportunity to build processes, systems, controls, and reporting standards that will ultimately be used across the entire platform.
Key Responsibilities
Own the monthly close and consolidation process across multiple entities and locations, ensuring accurate GAAP-based financial reporting on a defined timeline.
Develop standardized accounting policies, close procedures, reporting packages, and controls across acquired businesses.
Lead the financial onboarding and integration of new acquisitions, including chart-of-accounts conversion, opening balance sheets, purchase accounting support, banking and payroll transitions, and close integration.
Build and maintain strong controls around cash, inventory, working capital, and other key balance-sheet accounts.
Produce consolidated financial reporting, operating KPIs, and location-level performance reporting for senior leadership, investors, lenders, and other stakeholders.
Partner with acquired-company Controllers and accounting teams to bring each business onto a consistent platform-wide accounting standard.
Play a hands-on role in designing and implementing the company's finance technology infrastructure, including ERP selection and implementation, systems integrations, and reporting automation.
Support M&A activity through financial diligence, review of acquired-company financials, working-capital analysis, purchase accounting, and post-close integration.
Manage relationships with external accounting firms, tax advisors, lenders, and other finance partners.
Help build and develop the centralized accounting team as the platform continues to scale.
Identify opportunities to automate and centralize accounting processes so future acquisitions can be integrated efficiently.
Qualifications
CPA strongly preferred.
Approximately 8+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience.
Strong technical foundation across monthly close, consolidations, GAAP accounting, financial reporting, and internal controls.
Experience working within a multi-entity, multi-location, or multi-unit organization.
Exposure to an acquisitive, private equity-backed, or rapidly scaling business strongly preferred.
Experience integrating acquisitions or standardizing accounting processes across multiple businesses.
Hands-on ERP implementation or significant finance systems transformation experience.
Strong understanding of cash, working capital, and inventory controls.
Experience managing accounting professionals and working across decentralized operating businesses.
Comfortable operating in a hands-on environment where processes and infrastructure are still being built.
