PR & Communications Manager (Volunteer)

Stoop Stories is looking for a PR & Communications volunteer to help grow our press presence across NYC. We're a Brooklyn-based nonprofit connecting NYC neighbors across generations through documentary storytelling and community events, already featured in 59+ press stories and the winner of multiple awards. We're looking for someone to help us build on that momentum.

Job Description:
Generate and distribute newsletters (via Mailchimp) and press releases
Conduct outreach to local organizations and publications to build press coverage and partnerships
Develop and implement strategic communications plans, and help ensure consistent messaging across channels
Manage content for our website alongside newsletters and press materials
Stay current on relevant news, press opportunities, and media trends
Track outreach efforts and share updates with the team
Ideal Candidate:
Marketing/communications and/or journalism background, with strong written communication skills
Experience with press outreach, media pitching, or newsletter writing
Comfort with email marketing tools like Mailchimp (or similar)
A warm, human voice in writing, and a genuine passion for storytelling, NYC culture, and community-based nonprofit work
Comfort researching and identifying relevant local publications, journalists, and community organizations
Self-driven, with strong organizational skills
Remote, flexible, approximately 5-10 hours per week. NYC-based candidates encouraged.
