Platform Engineer

At Rootstack, we are looking for a Platform Engineer with strong experience in Azure, observability, and telemetry, especially working hands-on with OpenTelemetry.
We’re looking for a profile capable of designing and maintaining observability pipelines, working with cloud infrastructure, and ensuring telemetry data is properly managed, secured, and protected in production environments.
Main requirements
5+ years of experience in Software Engineering, Platform Engineering, Data Engineering, or related roles.
3+ years of hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure.
2+ years of experience building observability or telemetry pipelines.
Hands-on experience with OpenTelemetry.
Knowledge of OTLP, OpenTelemetry Collectors, Spans, Traces, and Semantic Conventions.
Experience with Azure technologies such as AKS, Azure Container Apps, API Management, and Application Insights.
Experience with Azure Data Explorer / Kusto.
Experience with ADLS Gen2 / Blob Storage.
Experience with Azure Key Vault and Microsoft Entra ID.
Experience with Python or Node.js and Bash.
Knowledge of RBAC, private networking, and auditing.
Experience with PII and secret scrubbing, including redaction, tokenization, or regex-based approaches.
100% conversational English.
Location: Colombia.

Responsibilities
Design and maintain observability and telemetry pipelines.
Implement solutions using OpenTelemetry.
Work with OTLP, Collectors, traces, and spans.
Integrate and manage Azure services.
Manage, process, and monitor telemetry data.
Implement security controls to protect sensitive information.
Work with cloud infrastructure and services in production environments.
Support scalable, secure, and reliable observability architectures.
Experience working with distributed systems, cloud security, monitoring platforms, and production-grade observability solutions will be highly valued.
