About the Role
We are looking for a socially aware, curious and research-oriented individual to join our Community Needs Assessment & Research Team as an Intern. The role involves understanding the experiences, needs and strengths of communities we work with and using these insights to inform CC’s programmes, workshops and community interventions.
This is an opportunity to engage with community-based research beyond simply collecting data - by listening to people’s experiences, identifying gaps in existing resources, and thinking critically about how psychological support and education can be made more relevant, accessible and context-sensitive.
Key Responsibilities
• Assist in conducting community needs assessments through interviews, surveys, observations, group activities and other appropriate methods
• Support the development of questionnaires, interview guides, feedback forms and other research tools
• Assist with identifying and reviewing relevant psychological and community-based literature
• Participate in organising, documenting and analysing information gathered from community interactions
• Help identify key psychological, educational, social and resource-related needs within the communities CC works with
• Contribute to the development and refinement of workshops, activities and psychoeducational resources based on identified community needs
• Assist with pre- and post-intervention assessments and basic evaluation of programme outcomes
• Maintain organised research documentation, field notes and records
• Collaborate with the programme, outreach and other CC teams to translate research findings into practical interventions
• Contribute to research reports, presentations, summaries and other documentation of CC’s community work
• Approach community engagement with sensitivity to context, language, culture, power and accessibility
• Ensure that all research and community interactions follow ethical, respectful and non-stigmatising practices
Who Can Apply?
Students currently in their final year of Bachelors (3rd or 4th year) and graduates from psychology, social sciences, education, public health, social work, development studies or related fields are especially encouraged to apply. Applicants from other academic backgrounds with a genuine interest in community work and research are also welcome.
We are looking for someone who:
• Has an interest in community-based research, mental health or social impact
• Is curious about understanding people and communities within their social and cultural contexts
• Has strong written, organisational and communication skills
• Can think critically and approach information without making assumptions about communities
• Is comfortable working with both qualitative and quantitative information
• Can work independently and meet agreed deadlines
• Is receptive to feedback and comfortable collaborating remotely
• Is willing to learn basic research, documentation and data-analysis processes
• Approaches community engagement with empathy, respect and cultural sensitivity
Prior research experience is preferred. Familiarity with tools such as Google Forms, Excel/Google Sheets, JASP, SPSS, PSPP or similar research tools is an advantage, but applicants who are willing to learn are encouraged to apply. Additionally, some basic understanding of both quantitative and qualitative analysis would be beneficial.
Applicants may share relevant research projects, coursework, dissertations, writing samples, fieldwork experience or other relevant work, if available.
Internship Details
• Work mode: Remote, with community-based activities as required
• Duration: Two months
• Commitment: 8–10 hours per week
• Timings: Flexible
• Compensation: Unpaid
• Benefit: Internship Completion Certificate upon successful completion of agreed responsibilities and a Letter of Recommendation based on performance
