Hiring: Engineering Expert – AI Evaluation
RLink Solutions is looking for experienced Engineering Experts to support an AI evaluation project focused on engineering simulation, design, and AI-agent performance.
Role: Engineering Expert – AI Evaluation
Engagement: Short-Term Contract | Up to 24 weeks
Availability: 40 hours/week with 4 hours of PST overlap
Compensation: Approximately $12.50–$16.67 USD/hour
Start: Immediately
What You’ll Do
Create complex engineering design and simulation problems for AI model evaluation.
Develop and validate engineering tasks with multiple constraints and objective outcomes.
Work with open-source simulation tools and Python-based test benches.
Analyze AI-agent execution logs and identify reasoning, coding, and tool-use failures.
Refine task difficulty based on model performance.
Collaborate with AI researchers and engineering/domain experts.
Requirements
Master’s degree or PhD in Electrical, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering.
10+ years of hands-on engineering design experience.
Strong Python scripting skills.
Experience with at least one relevant simulation/tooling package, such as:
ngspice / PySpice
OpenFOAM
FEniCSx / CalculiX
python-control
CadQuery / build123d
OpenModelica / Cantera / Gmsh
Experience with LLMs, coding agents, or AI evaluation.
Strong understanding of engineering rigor, including physical plausibility, unit consistency, boundary conditions, and convergence criteria.
Reliable computer and high-speed internet.
Key Responsibilities
Design challenging engineering problems for AI model evaluation.
Build and validate simulation environments using open-source tools.
Analyze AI-agent trajectories and identify failure modes.
Develop objective evaluation criteria and automated graders.
Refine benchmarks based on model performance.
Collaborate with AI researchers and engineering experts.
