The Role
We are seeking an experienced Aerospace Certification Manager to lead certification strategy, regulatory compliance, certification programs, technical coordination, authority engagement, and continued compliance across aerospace products and systems.
The ideal candidate will manage certification activities from requirements definition and certification planning through compliance demonstration, authority review, approval, production readiness, and continued airworthiness or product compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement aerospace certification strategies aligned with product, program, regulatory, and business objectives.
Lead certification programs for aircraft, aerospace systems, components, equipment, modifications, or related products.
Establish certification plans, compliance matrices, schedules, deliverables, responsibilities, and approval milestones.
Interpret applicable aviation regulations, certification specifications, advisory material, standards, and authority requirements.
Determine applicable certification bases and establish appropriate means of compliance.
Coordinate certification activities with aviation authorities, designated engineering representatives, approved organizations, customers, and other external stakeholders.
Manage certification interfaces with relevant civil aviation and aerospace regulatory authorities.
Lead certification planning for new products, major changes, modifications, upgrades, and supplemental approval programs.
Coordinate engineering teams in developing certification requirements and compliance strategies.
Review system, equipment, structural, software, hardware, environmental, and safety requirements for certification implications.
Develop and maintain certification compliance matrices and evidence-tracking systems.
Define required analyses, tests, inspections, demonstrations, similarity assessments, and technical justifications.
Coordinate certification test plans, procedures, witnessing, results, and reports.
Review engineering analyses and technical reports supporting certification compliance.
Ensure certification evidence is complete, traceable, technically sound, and properly controlled.
Manage certification documentation, records, correspondence, approvals, findings, and authority comments.
Coordinate resolution of certification findings, non-compliances, discrepancies, and open actions.
Lead root-cause analysis and corrective-action activities associated with certification issues.
Establish certification review gates and technical assurance processes throughout the product lifecycle.
Coordinate with Design Engineering, Systems Engineering, Structures, Avionics, Software, Safety, Quality, Manufacturing, Flight Test, and Configuration Management teams.
Ensure certification requirements are incorporated into engineering specifications and product-development processes.
Review design changes for certification impact and determine whether additional compliance activities are required.
Support configuration-control processes to ensure certified configurations remain accurately documented.
Coordinate certification activities related to aircraft systems, propulsion interfaces, avionics, electrical systems, structures, equipment, software, and environmental performance as applicable.
Support safety assessments, system-safety analyses, failure-condition assessments, and related certification evidence.
Coordinate software and airborne electronic hardware certification activities where applicable.
Support environmental qualification and certification activities covering temperature, vibration, humidity, EMC, lightning, altitude, and other applicable conditions.
Coordinate structural substantiation, fatigue, damage tolerance, loads, and materials certification activities where applicable.
Support flight-test certification programs and coordinate certification objectives, test plans, results, and authority participation.
Ensure production and manufacturing processes remain consistent with approved or certified design configurations.
Coordinate with Quality and Manufacturing teams on conformity inspections and certification-related production requirements.
Support supplier certification activities and qualification of externally sourced aerospace components and systems.
Review supplier certification documentation, compliance evidence, test reports, and declarations.
Manage certification consultants, testing laboratories, engineering organizations, and specialist service providers.
Define external partner scopes, technical requirements, deliverables, schedules, and quality expectations.
Monitor external certification partner performance and technical deliverables.
Develop certification schedules and monitor critical-path activities, dependencies, risks, and resource requirements.
Manage certification budgets, testing costs, external engineering support, and program resources.
Identify certification risks early and develop mitigation and contingency plans.
Maintain certification risk registers and provide escalation for significant technical or regulatory issues.
Monitor regulatory developments and assess their potential impact on current and future products.
Maintain awareness of emerging certification requirements related to advanced air mobility, autonomy, electrification, sustainable aviation, connected systems, and emerging aerospace technologies.
Establish certification knowledge-management practices, lessons learned, templates, procedures, and organizational standards.
Train and mentor engineering and certification personnel on certification processes and regulatory expectations.
Conduct certification readiness reviews, internal audits, and compliance assessments.
Support regulatory audits, authority reviews, conformity inspections, and certification meetings.
Prepare executive and program-level reports covering certification status, compliance evidence, risks, findings, schedule, costs, and approvals.
Ensure certification activities comply with applicable quality-management, safety, configuration-control, and regulatory requirements.
Continuously improve certification processes to reduce rework, improve evidence quality, strengthen traceability, and accelerate approval timelines.

Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate should have strong experience in aerospace certification, airworthiness, aircraft engineering, systems certification, regulatory compliance, aerospace quality, or aviation safety, preferably across aircraft, aerospace systems, components, or advanced aviation products.
The candidate should demonstrate:
Proven experience managing aerospace certification programs from planning through approval.
Strong understanding of applicable aviation certification regulations and authority processes.
Experience developing certification plans, compliance matrices, and means-of-compliance strategies.
Strong knowledge of certification testing, analysis, inspection, demonstration, and technical substantiation.
Experience coordinating with aviation authorities, certification bodies, approved organizations, and external technical specialists.
