The Role: We are looking for a seasoned US Tax Manager with strong expertise in individual taxation to lead our Form 1040 practice. The ideal candidate is an Enrolled Agent (EA) who has significant experience preparing and signing complex US individual tax returns and has the leadership capability to manage a team of tax professionals.
This is a high-impact managerial role responsible for delivering high-quality tax compliance, review, and client service while mentoring team members and ensuring adherence to IRS standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and oversee the preparation and review of complex Form 1040 tax returns, including multi-state filings.
Act as a signer for tax returns, taking full professional responsibility for accuracy and compliance
Manage a team of tax preparers and senior associates — including workflow allocation, quality control, performance feedback, and professional development.
Handle complex tax scenarios involving expatriates, foreign income reporting, investments, rental properties, and other advanced schedules.
Review workpapers, resolve IRS notices/correspondence, and support tax planning & advisory services.
Ensure all deliverables meet strict quality, compliance, and deadline standards (especially during peak US tax season).
Mentor and train junior team members on US tax laws, software, and best practices.
Collaborate with onshore US CPA teams / clients and provide timely updates on engagements.
Stay updated with changes in US tax laws (IRC) and implement them effectively.
Contribute to process improvements, standardization, and best practices within the tax function.
Mandatory Requirements:
Enrolled Agent (EA) certification — Must be active and in good standing with the IRS.
Strong hands-on experience in preparing and reviewing Form 1040 returns.
Minimum 1 year of signer experience (signing tax returns as the paid preparer).
8+ years of relevant experience in US individual taxation.
Proficiency with US tax preparation software (UltraTax, Lacerte, CCH, Drake, or similar).
Excellent understanding of IRS rules, regulations, and Circular 230.
