Data Engineer (m/f/d) | Contract | 100% Remote, EU
Global pharmaceutical company | 6 months, starting October 2026 | Extension likely
A global research-led pharmaceutical company is expanding its Azure-based data platform and needs an experienced Data Engineer to design and deliver pipelines, models and orchestration across defined platform initiatives. The team is also actively adopting AI-assisted engineering, so you will help shape how those tools are used in day-to-day delivery.
The role
Design and implement data pipeline architectures and integration solutions
Build and optimise ETL/ELT processes covering ingestion, transformation and consumption
Deliver cloud data warehouse solutions aligned to project and business objectives
Develop conceptual, logical and physical data models using Star Schema and Data Vault
Implement workflow orchestration and automation with Apache Airflow and dbt
Write scalable, efficient Python and SQL
Provide architectural input on Azure data platform components
Work with business and technical stakeholders to gather requirements and validate deliverables
Advise on AI-powered engineering tools and data engineering best practice
What you bring
5+ years as a Data Engineer or in a comparable role
Strong hands-on Python and SQL
Proven delivery with Apache Airflow and dbt
A solid track record designing and building ETL/ELT pipelines
Experience with Snowflake and/or Databricks
Strong data modelling, including Star Schema and Data Vault
Microsoft Azure and cloud data architecture experience
Familiarity with AI-assisted development such as Claude Code, Codex or MCP
Clear communication and comfort working across cross-functional teams
Fluent written and spoken English

Duration: 18 October 2026 to 17 April 2027, with a likely 3 to 6 month extension
Location: 100% remote from anywhere in the EU, no travel
