About the job Senior Development Engineer
For Kratos Defence, we are looking for Senior Development Engineer:
Kratos is the leading provider of satellite Control and Monitoring solutions, with 80% market share. Kratos is also a leading actor in modernizing Satellite Communications (SatCom) ground infrastructure, by developing a new generation of software-defined SatCom products based on Kratos OpenSpace® Platform. OpenSpace® utilize cutting-edge cloud technologies, optimized for maximum flexibility and performance.
Kratos Norway is a Center of Excellence for Satcom technology within the Kratos group and has about 25 years of track record developing highly efficient and advanced solutions for the satellite ground segment.
Kratos Norway is now looking for a Senior Development Engineer to contribute to the development of the next generation of digital and virtualized satellite monitoring and communication products.
Key responsibilities:
Design, develop, and maintain software products for satellite communication and monitoring systems.
Act as technical owner for software products, subsystems or engineering platforms, providing guidance on infrastructure, technology selection and long-term technical direction.
Participate in all stages of the software development lifecycle, from requirements and design through implementation, testing, and deployment.
Bridge business needs and technical implementation by transforming requirements into structured software solutions aligned with communication standards.
Support product demonstrations, technical documentation, and knowledge sharing across teams and customers.
Collaborate closely with software developers, system engineers, product management, delivery teams, and customer support.
Contribute to the evolution of DevOps, infrastructure, automation, and deployment processes to support stable and scalable software operations.
Support and mentor other developers through code reviews, technical discussions, and sharing of best practices.
Collaborate with other international Kratos teams on product development and technology initiatives.
You have/are:
Higher technical education within software development or telecommunications engineering, with a minimum of a Master’s degree.
Significant and documented experience in software design and development.
Strong background in object-oriented software development, preferably using C++.
Experience with distributed and containerized systems based on Docker and Kubernetes.
Experience with communication and networking protocols such as TCP/IP, DVB, and 3GPP technologies.
Strong analytical, structured, and result-oriented approach to problem solving and execution.
Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across technical and non-technical teams.
Experience with software design, system architecture, technical documentation, and development best practices.
Experience with Agile/Scrum development methodologies and related collaboration and tracking tools.
Strong written and verbal English communication skills, as English is the primary working language.
Kratos develops software on both Windows and Linux platforms, primarily using C++. We are looking for experienced senior engineers who enjoy solving complex technical challenges and contributing to both product development and engineering excellence. Depending on experience and interests, the role may evolve towards software architecture, technical leadership, or platform and DevOps engineering responsibilities.
