Role Description This is a full-time remote role for a Cyber Security Specialist. The Cyber Security Specialist will monitor and analyze security events, investigate potential threats, and respond to incidents in a timely and structured manner. Daily tasks include assessing vulnerabilities, performing risk evaluations, and implementing security controls across applications, networks, and information systems. The role involves configuring and managing security tools, maintaining documentation, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to improve overall security posture. The specialist will also participate in security awareness efforts, assist with compliance activities, and support the continuous enhancement of Meridian’s cybersecurity frameworks and policies.
Qualifications
Strong skills in Cybersecurity and Cyber threat analysis, including familiarity with common attack vectors and mitigation strategies.
Proficiency in Network Security, including firewalls, VPNs, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and secure network architecture.
Experience with Application Security, such as secure coding principles, application vulnerability assessment, and remediation.
Knowledge of Information Security, including data protection, access control, and security governance practices.
Experience with security monitoring tools (SIEM, endpoint protection), incident response, and log analysis.
Understanding of industry standards and frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001, CIS Controls) and relevant regulations or compliance requirements.
Ability to communicate technical security concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders and collaborate in remote, cross-functional teams.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Relevant certifications such as Security+, CySA+, CEH, CISSP, or similar are beneficial.
Commitment to ongoing learning, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to identifying and addressing security risks.
