Job Description:
OIT is seeking an experienced Power BI Developer to support its Business Intelligence (BI) program. The developer will work closely with business stakeholders, data analysts, and technical teams to gather requirements, build scalable data models, develop interactive Power BI reports, and optimize BI solutions.
Key Responsibilities
• Gather and analyze business requirements and translate them into Power BI solutions.
• Design, develop, and document conceptual, logical, and physical data models.
• Build reusable Power BI semantic models, relationships, and implement row- and column-level security.
• Connect Power BI to diverse data sources including SQL databases, APIs, BigQuery, ArcGIS, Excel, and streaming datasets.
• Develop complex DAX measures, calculated columns, and custom calculations.
• Create interactive dashboards and reports using slicers, drill-throughs, ArcGIS, and streaming visuals.
• Optimize report and model performance using DAX Studio, Power BI Performance Analyzer, and modeling best practices.
• Publish and manage solutions in Power BI Service, including security, access controls, and scheduled refreshes.
• Use Tabular Editor Best Practice Analyzer and follow DAX/modeling best practices.
• Work within organizational source-control and version-control processes, including Azure DevOps.
• Leverage AI tools to improve data analysis and development workflows; Google AI experience is a plus.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, conduct working sessions, and communicate technical concepts and insights to non-technical stakeholders.
• Reverse-engineer existing Excel-based processes, formulas, pivot tables, and manual analyses to identify business logic and improvement opportunities.
Required Skills
• Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Power BI development.
• Advanced DAX and Power BI data modeling skills.
• Experience with Power BI Service, security, deployment, and refresh management.
• Experience integrating multiple data sources and working with large datasets.
• Strong Excel skills, including complex formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis.
• Familiarity with Tabular Editor and DAX Studio.
• Experience with Azure DevOps/source control.
• Strong analytical, communication, presentation, and stakeholder-management skills.
