Develop and analyse modulation and demodulation algorithms for digital communication systems.
Work with modulation schemes such as BPSK, QPSK, OQPSK, FSK, MSK, GMSK, QAM, DVB-S2, CPM and other communication waveforms.
Develop algorithms for Carrier and symbol synchronization, Timing recovery, Frequency and phase estimation, Matched filtering, Channel estimation and equalization, Detection and classification, Spectrum analysis, etc.
Develop DSP techniques for ELINT/SIGINT, including signal detection, characterization, parameter extraction and classification.
Develop communication receivers and transmitters for SDR platforms.
Model and simulate algorithms using MATLAB/Simulink and Python.
Convert floating-point algorithms into fixed-point, bit-accurate implementations suitable for real-time hardware.
Implement DSP algorithms on FPGA, DSP processors and embedded processors.
Work with FPGA engineers to translate algorithms into Verilog/VHDL or FPGA-friendly architectures.
Perform algorithm optimization for throughput, latency, memory utilization and FPGA resource utilization.
Validate algorithms using simulation, recorded RF/IQ data and hardware measurements.
Interface DSP algorithms with RF front ends, ADCs/DACs, SDRs and high-speed data converters.
Participate in system-level debugging using spectrum analysers, oscilloscopes, logic analysers, vector signal analysers and RF test equipment.
Analyse and implement algorithms based on IEEE papers, communication standards, technical publications and system specifications.
Work with cross-functional RF, FPGA, embedded and systems teams to integrate DSP algorithms into complete products.
Required Skills:
Strong fundamentals in Digital Signal Processing and Digital Communications.
Strong understanding of sampling theory, Fourier transforms, filtering, correlation, convolution and spectral analysis.
Good understanding of digital modulation and demodulation techniques.
Hands-on experience with MATLAB and/or Python for algorithm development and simulation.
Experience developing DSP algorithms from concept to simulation and hardware implementation.
Good understanding of RF signal chains and Software Defined Radio architectures.
Experience working with complex I/Q signals and IQ data processing.
Strong analytical and mathematical problem-solving skills.
Programming experience in Python, C or C++.
Ability to understand and implement algorithms from technical papers and specifications.
Preferred Skills:
The following experience will be highly preferred:
Hands-on experience with FPGA-based DSP development.
Experience with Xilinx/AMD, Intel/Altera or equivalent FPGA platforms.
