Senior Ontology Modeling Consultant

About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Ontology Modeling Consultant to build a semantic foundation that integrates siloed data across Commercial, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and R&D domains. The consultant will work with domain experts, data architects, and IT teams to develop reusable ontology models aligned with enterprise data and relevant industry/pharma standards.
Key Responsibilities
Design and maintain ontology and knowledge models covering entities, relationships, and business concepts.
Analyze siloed data sources and identify opportunities for semantic integration and harmonization.
Map ontology models to industry standards, controlled vocabularies, and reference ontologies.
Evaluate relevant pharma/life-sciences ontologies and standards.
Recommend appropriate approaches including RDF/OWL, property graphs, taxonomies, and knowledge graphs.
Support selection and use of tools such as Protégé, TopBraid, GraphDB, Neo4j, SHACL, and SPARQL.
Collaborate with data engineering and IT teams on implementation, governance, and lifecycle management.
Document modeling decisions, standards mappings, and governance practices.
Required Qualifications
5+ years of hands-on experience in ontology modeling, knowledge graphs, or semantic data architecture.
Strong knowledge of RDF/OWL, taxonomies, property graphs, and knowledge representation.
Experience integrating multiple siloed data sources through semantic models.
Hands-on experience with ontology design, visualization, and validation tools.
Experience working in complex, multi-domain enterprise environments.
Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in Pharmaceutical/Life Sciences.
Knowledge of pharma/biomedical ontologies and standards.
Experience with data governance, metadata management, and FAIR principles.
Ability to explain complex semantic concepts to business stakeholders.
