POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Director, Acquisitions - Transaction Execution is responsible for leading the Company's transaction execution function for distributed generation solar and energy storage acquisitions. This role oversees a team of transaction professionals responsible for managing acquisitions from initial evaluation and due diligence through negotiation, documentation, and transaction close.
The Director serves as the leader of the transaction execution team and is accountable for transaction management, diligence oversight, risk assessment, cross-functional coordination, and successful acquisition closings. This individual works closely with Origination, Commercial Analysis, Development, Project Finance, Engineering, Legal, and Executive Management to evaluate opportunities and execute transactions that support the Company's growth objectives.
Responsibilities
Transaction Execution & Deal Leadership
Lead the execution of solar and energy storage acquisitions from initial evaluation through transaction close.
Oversee transaction timelines, diligence activities, negotiations, and closing workstreams across active acquisitions.
Manage complex transactions and provide guidance on transaction strategy, structure, and execution risks.
Drive successful transaction closings while ensuring alignment with Company investment objectives.
Due Diligence & Negotiation
Oversee commercial, financial, legal, technical, real estate, permitting, and interconnection diligence activities.
Identify, evaluate, and mitigate transaction risks throughout the acquisition process.
Lead negotiations of purchase agreements and other transaction documents.
Partner with internal and external stakeholders to resolve diligence issues and facilitate transaction close.
Investment Committee & Executive Reporting
Lead preparation of investment memoranda, approval packages, and executive presentations.
Review transaction assumptions, diligence findings, and risk assessments.
Present acquisition opportunities and recommendations to senior leadership and the Investment Committee.
Maintain transaction forecasts and provide regular updates on pipeline status, key risks, and closing expectations.
Team Leadership & Cross Functional Management
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of transaction professionals.
Establish execution standards, processes, and best practices across the transaction function.
Partner closely with Origination, Commercial Analysis, Development, Engineering, Project Finance, Legal, and Asset Management.
Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and excellence.
Required Qualifications
[Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Engineering, Economics, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
10+ years of experience in renewable energy acquisitions, transaction execution, project finance, development, M&A, or related commercial roles.
Proven experience leading complex renewable energy transactions from diligence through closing.
Demonstrated experience managing transaction, acquisitions, development, or commercial teams.
Strong understanding of community solar, distributed generation, and energy storage development and acquisition processes.
Experience evaluating project economics, investment risks, transaction structures, and acquisition opportunities.
Significant experience negotiating definitive agreements and commercial transaction terms.
Strong understanding of financial analysis, valuation methodologies, and transaction underwriting.
Exceptional organizational, project management, and stakeholder management skills.
Excellent written, verbal, and executive presentation skills.
Ability to manage multiple transactions and competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Willingness to travel (10%) as required.
Compensation
In accordance with applicable pay transparency laws, the anticipated annual base salary for this position is:
Zone 1: $208,100 – $260,000
Zone 2: $190,700 – $238,400
Zone 3: $173,400 – $216,700
The applicable salary range is based on the employee’s primary work location. Individual compensation will be determined based on qualifications, relevant experience, education, skills, internal equity, and other business-related factors.

The salary range is required by the California Pay Transparency Act and may differ depending on the location of those candidates hired nationwide. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to, skill set, education, licenses and certifications, essential job duties and requirements, and the necessary experience relative to the job’s minimum qualifications.
