The Role
We are seeking an organized and analytical Logistics Planning Assistant / Specialist to support logistics planning, shipment scheduling, transportation coordination, inventory movement, capacity planning, route coordination, and operational execution.
The ideal candidate will translate demand and operational requirements into practical logistics plans, coordinate with warehouses and transportation providers, monitor execution, resolve exceptions, maintain accurate planning data, and identify opportunities to improve service levels and logistics efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Support daily, weekly, and monthly logistics planning activities.
Coordinate logistics requirements across Warehousing, Transportation, Distribution, Procurement, Inventory, Sales, Customer Service, and Operations.
Review customer orders, inventory requirements, supply plans, delivery schedules, and operational priorities to support logistics planning.
Develop and maintain shipment plans, transportation schedules, delivery calendars, and logistics trackers.
Coordinate inbound and outbound logistics activities based on demand, inventory availability, capacity, and delivery requirements.
Support transportation planning based on shipment volume, vehicle capacity, routes, delivery windows, and service-level requirements.
Coordinate with carriers, freight providers, couriers, third-party logistics providers, and transportation teams.
Allocate shipments to appropriate transportation resources based on operational requirements.
Consolidate shipments where appropriate to improve transportation utilization and reduce unnecessary costs.
Coordinate delivery appointments, pickup schedules, loading windows, and receiving requirements.
Monitor warehouse capacity, transportation capacity, labor availability, and other operational constraints affecting logistics plans.
Coordinate with warehouses to ensure inventory is available, picked, staged, and ready for scheduled transportation.
Monitor inventory movements between suppliers, warehouses, distribution centers, stores, customers, and other locations.
Support replenishment and stock-transfer planning based on inventory levels, demand, and operational requirements.
Track planned versus actual shipment volumes, dispatches, deliveries, and transportation movements.
Monitor logistics execution and identify deviations from approved plans.
Follow up on delayed shipments, missed pickups, capacity shortages, delivery failures, and other logistics exceptions.
Escalate significant service disruptions and develop alternative logistics arrangements where required.
Coordinate urgent, priority, same-day, and time-sensitive logistics requirements.
Support logistics planning for seasonal peaks, promotions, new product launches, special projects, and business continuity situations.
Analyze historical shipment data, demand patterns, seasonality, and operational trends to support logistics planning.
Assist with logistics capacity planning and identify potential future resource requirements.
Monitor vehicle, carrier, warehouse, and distribution capacity against expected demand.
Identify capacity constraints before they affect customer service or operational continuity.
Support route planning and delivery sequencing to improve service reliability and transportation efficiency.
Evaluate opportunities for route optimization, shipment consolidation, load optimization, and improved vehicle utilization.
Coordinate with Transportation teams on driver, vehicle, and carrier availability.
Support logistics planning for different service levels, delivery priorities, and customer requirements.
Maintain accurate master data for routes, locations, carriers, transportation resources, lead times, delivery windows, and service requirements.
Verify planning parameters and identify inaccurate or outdated logistics information.
Maintain accurate logistics schedules, planning files, trackers, and operational databases.
Use ERP, TMS, WMS, inventory-management, order-management, and analytics systems to support planning activities.
Monitor system-generated logistics plans and adjust schedules based on operational realities.
Coordinate with Procurement and suppliers regarding inbound delivery schedules, shipment readiness, and expected arrival dates.
Monitor supplier shipment commitments and follow up on potential delays or shortages.
Coordinate inbound transportation requirements with suppliers and logistics providers.
Support customs, import, export, and documentation coordination where applicable.
Maintain accurate shipping, delivery, transfer, and transportation documentation.
Track estimated and actual arrival times and communicate changes to relevant stakeholders.
Support customer-service teams with accurate shipment status and estimated delivery information.
Coordinate with Distribution and Warehouse teams to align transportation schedules with operational capacity.
Monitor logistics costs and support analysis of freight, transportation, handling, storage, and accessorial expenses.
Compare planned logistics costs against actual costs and investigate significant variances.
Support carrier and logistics-provider performance monitoring.
Track on-time performance, capacity utilization, service failures, response times, and SLA compliance.
Assist with logistics supplier reviews, performance reporting, and corrective-action initiatives.
Analyze logistics performance data and identify recurring bottlenecks, delays, and inefficiencies.
Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly logistics planning and performance reports.
Develop dashboards and planning summaries for operational and management review.
Maintain accurate records of logistics plans, changes, exceptions, decisions, and completed activities.
Support scenario planning for changes in demand, supply, transportation capacity, warehouse capacity, or customer requirements.
Evaluate alternative logistics plans when the original plan cannot be executed.
Support contingency planning for transportation disruptions, supplier delays, warehouse constraints, severe weather, and other operational risks.
Identify opportunities to improve planning processes through automation, data analytics, digital visibility, and system integration.
Support SOP development, process standardization, and continuous-improvement initiatives.
Participate in root-cause analysis of logistics planning failures and service disruptions.
Track corrective actions and verify completion.
Maintain clear operational handovers and communicate outstanding planning issues to relevant teams.
Perform other logistics planning and supply chain coordination responsibilities as required.

Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate should have strong experience in logistics planning, transportation planning, supply chain coordination, distribution, inventory planning, warehouse operations, or third-party logistics, preferably within retail, e-commerce, manufacturing, wholesale, 3PL, or other complex distribution environments.
