The Role
We are seeking an experienced Commercial Strategy Manager to lead commercial planning, market analysis, revenue-growth initiatives, pricing strategy, customer segmentation, business-case development, and strategic commercial programs.
The ideal candidate will combine strategic thinking, analytical capability, financial understanding, customer insight, and strong cross-functional leadership to translate market opportunities into practical commercial strategies and measurable business outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement commercial strategies aligned with organizational growth objectives and long-term business priorities.
Translate corporate strategy into actionable commercial priorities, initiatives, roadmaps, and performance targets.
Conduct market, industry, customer, competitor, and commercial analysis to identify growth opportunities and risks.
Assess market size, growth potential, customer segments, competitive dynamics, pricing structures, and market trends.
Develop market-entry, market-expansion, customer-growth, portfolio, and channel strategies.
Identify opportunities to increase revenue, margin, customer acquisition, retention, cross-selling, and share of wallet.
Develop customer segmentation frameworks based on needs, behavior, value, profitability, industry, geography, and other relevant dimensions.
Analyze customer lifetime value, acquisition costs, retention, churn, purchasing behavior, and commercial potential.
Develop commercial propositions tailored to customer segments, markets, channels, and use cases.
Evaluate existing products and services and identify opportunities for portfolio optimization.
Support the development and launch of new products, services, packages, solutions, and commercial offerings.
Develop pricing strategies based on customer value, competitive positioning, cost structures, market conditions, and margin objectives.
Analyze price elasticity, discounting, promotions, contract structures, and pricing realization.
Identify opportunities to improve gross margin, contribution margin, and commercial profitability.
Develop revenue and margin scenarios for strategic initiatives, products, customers, markets, and channels.
Prepare detailed business cases for growth initiatives, investments, partnerships, market expansion, and new commercial models.
Build financial models covering revenue, costs, margins, investment requirements, cash impact, and expected returns.
Conduct sensitivity analysis and scenario planning for key commercial decisions.
Partner with Finance to validate assumptions, forecasts, business cases, and financial performance.
Work with Sales teams to translate commercial strategy into account plans, sales priorities, territories, and opportunity pipelines.
Support sales planning through market prioritization, customer segmentation, target-account analysis, and opportunity sizing.
Partner with Marketing to align market positioning, customer acquisition strategies, campaigns, and value propositions.
Collaborate with Product teams to translate customer and market insights into product and service priorities.
Work with Operations to assess capacity, service requirements, delivery constraints, and scalability of commercial initiatives.
Support Business Development and Partnerships teams in evaluating strategic alliances, channels, and ecosystem opportunities.
Develop commercial frameworks for partnerships, distribution models, reseller arrangements, and strategic collaborations.
Evaluate customer and partner economics, including acquisition costs, revenue potential, margins, incentives, and long-term value.
Monitor commercial performance against strategic objectives and identify gaps requiring corrective action.
Establish commercial dashboards covering revenue, margin, customer, pipeline, pricing, market, and strategic initiative metrics.
Develop regular management reports and executive presentations covering commercial performance, market trends, risks, and opportunities.
Conduct competitor benchmarking covering pricing, products, services, positioning, channels, customer experience, and commercial models.
Monitor emerging market trends, customer expectations, technology developments, regulatory changes, and disruptive business models.
Develop competitive-intelligence frameworks and maintain structured market and competitor information.
Identify opportunities for differentiation and sustainable competitive advantage.
Evaluate geographic expansion opportunities and develop market prioritization recommendations.
Support annual and multi-year commercial planning processes.
Contribute to budgeting, forecasting, and commercial target-setting activities.
Develop commercial targets and performance expectations for markets, products, customer segments, and channels.
Evaluate commercial initiatives using return on investment, payback, margin contribution, strategic value, and risk considerations.
Lead cross-functional commercial projects from opportunity identification through implementation and performance review.
Develop project plans, milestones, resource requirements, governance structures, and decision frameworks for strategic initiatives.
Coordinate executive workshops and decision-making sessions on commercial priorities and growth opportunities.
Communicate complex commercial analysis clearly to senior leadership and non-technical stakeholders.
Promote data-driven commercial decision-making across the organization.
Identify opportunities to improve commercial processes, reporting, pricing governance, customer management, and sales effectiveness.
Support the adoption of analytics, automation, artificial intelligence, and advanced decision-support tools.
Establish governance for commercial assumptions, metrics, methodologies, and performance reporting.
Maintain commercial strategy documentation, market models, business cases, customer insights, competitor intelligence, and strategic plans.
Manage external consultants, research firms, market-intelligence providers, and commercial advisory partners where required.
Define partner deliverables, quality standards, timelines, budgets, and performance expectations.
Provide leadership with clear recommendations supported by market evidence, financial analysis, customer insights, and commercial data.
