Head Miller

Please note: Prior experience as a miller in a wheat flour mill is a must. It is also mandatory to have a certificate from Indian School of Milling Technology (CFTRI Mysore) or from a similar program demonstrating formal education in milling of wheat.
Job Overview
As the Head Miller / Plant Head, you will be responsible for leading the entire milling and production process, managing the plant’s operations, workforce, and facility resources. This position requires extensive experience in flour milling, plant management, and production planning, as well as a strong focus on quality control, efficiency, and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Milling Operations
• Oversee Milling Processes: Supervise and optimize daily milling activities, including grain intake, cleaning, grinding, and blending.
• Product Quality Assurance: Maintain rigorous quality control for all flour products, conducting regular checks and calibrating processes to ensure consistency.
• Equipment Maintenance: Establish and manage preventative maintenance schedules, coordinate repairs, and ensure milling equipment operates at peak efficiency.
Plant Management
• Production Planning and Coordination: Develop and implement production schedules, balancing demand with plant capacity and resources to achieve production goals.
• Operational Efficiency: Monitor and improve plant workflows, identifying opportunities for process optimization and cost reduction across all departments.
• Inventory and Supply Chain Management: Collaborate with procurement to manage raw material inventory, maintain adequate stock levels, and ensure seamless supply chain coordination.
• Health, Safety, and Compliance: Uphold strict adherence to safety standards and food industry regulations; foster a safe workplace environment through training and inspections.
Leadership and Team Management
• Workforce Management: Directly oversee the milling and production teams, including staffing, performance management, and training.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Liaise with other departments, such as quality control, logistics, and procurement, to ensure smooth production and delivery operations.
• Budget and Resource Management: Manage the plant’s operational budget, monitor resource allocation, and implement cost-saving measures where possible.
Reporting and Documentation
• Data Analysis and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of production metrics, quality standards, inventory levels, and equipment performance; generate and present reports for senior management.
• Continuous Improvement Initiatives: Drive process improvement and innovation by implementing best practices, exploring new technologies, and analyzing production data to enhance plant efficiency.
Qualifications
• Experience: Minimum of 7-10 years in flour milling and plant management, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
• Education: Degree in Milling Science, Food Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or related field preferred.
• Technical Proficiency: Knowledge of milling equipment, plant operations, and modern production technology; experience with automated systems is a plus.
• Leadership Ability: Strong team leadership, decision-making, and communication skills.
• Analytical Skills: Competency in analyzing production metrics, troubleshooting, and strategic planning.
• Safety and Compliance Knowledge: Deep understanding of health and safety standards in food production and plant operations.
