DevOps Engineer / Associate Software Enginee

Role Description This part-time, remote DevOps Engineer / Associate Software Engineer role supports S12’s technology and infrastructure used to coordinate industry workstreams and public-facing services. Day-to-day responsibilities include maintaining and improving cloud-based infrastructure, implementing and managing Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and supporting continuous integration pipelines to ensure reliable deployment of applications and services. The role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance security, performance, and resilience of systems, as well as monitoring environments, troubleshooting issues, and applying system administration best practices. The engineer will also contribute to the development of internal tools and automation scripts that streamline operations and improve efficiency for S12 and its stakeholders.
Qualifications
Strong System Administration and Linux skills, including managing servers, monitoring performance, and ensuring security and reliability.
Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools and practices for provisioning, configuring, and maintaining cloud or on-premises environments.
Knowledge of Continuous Integration concepts and tools to build, test, and deploy software in an automated and repeatable manner.
Foundational Software Development skills, with the ability to write clean, maintainable code or scripts for automation and tooling.
Understanding of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, or GCP) and containerization or orchestration technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) is beneficial.
Ability to work independently in a remote, part-time setting, manage priorities across multiple initiatives, and communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Relevant degree or equivalent practical experience in computer science, engineering, information technology, or a related field is preferred.
Interest in the security sector and commitment to supporting higher standards, compliance, and public safety initiatives is an advantage.
