Role Description This part-time Remote IT Network Engineer role is responsible for supporting, maintaining, and optimizing client network environments. On a day-to-day basis, the role includes configuring and managing routers, switches, firewalls, and other network devices; monitoring network performance; and responding to alerts and incidents. The engineer will diagnose and resolve connectivity issues, implement security policies and access controls, and assist with network upgrades and changes. The role also involves documenting configurations and procedures, collaborating with other IT team members, and communicating clearly with clients about technical issues and resolutions. This is a remote position, requiring effective self-management, secure work practices, and reliable online availability during agreed hours.
Qualifications
Candidates should possess skills in Network Administration and Network Engineering for configuring, managing, and optimizing network devices and services.
Candidates should possess skills in Network Security to implement security controls, monitor for threats, and support secure access and data protection.
Candidates should possess skills in Troubleshooting to diagnose connectivity and performance issues, perform root-cause analysis, and apply effective fixes.
Candidates should possess skills in Information Technology to understand broader infrastructure components, operating systems, and integration with network services.
Relevant experience with TCP/IP, VLANs, VPNs, Wi-Fi, and common routing and switching protocols (e.g., OSPF, BGP) is beneficial.
Industry certifications such as CompTIA Network+, CCNA, or equivalent practical experience are highly desirable.
Strong analytical and communication skills, ability to work independently in a remote environment, and commitment to inclusive, respectful collaboration are expected.
