Role Description The Chief Data Officer (CDO) is a full-time, remote role responsible for defining and leading the data strategy across Food & Health Angels and its portfolio. This role oversees data governance frameworks, data management practices, and data quality standards to ensure that information assets are reliable, secure, and usable for decision-making. The CDO will collaborate with investment, research, and operations teams to design data architectures, build analytical capabilities, and develop metrics that track portfolio performance and impact on metabolic health. Daily responsibilities include guiding data science initiatives, championing data-driven insights for investment decisions, managing data platforms and tools, and establishing policies for ethical and compliant data use. The role also involves engaging with portfolio companies to help them strengthen their own data strategies and align with Food & Health Angels’ evidence-based approach.
Qualifications
Strong expertise in Data Governance and Data Management, with the ability to design and implement policies, standards, and processes for secure and compliant data use.
Proficiency in Data Quality practices, including establishing data validation, stewardship, and monitoring mechanisms to maintain accurate and consistent information assets.
Advanced Analytical Skills and experience applying Data Science methods to generate actionable insights, build models, and support evidence-based decision-making.
Experience leading data strategy and initiatives in investment, healthcare, life sciences, or technology-focused organizations.
Familiarity with modern data architectures, cloud-based data platforms, and tools for data integration, analytics, and visualization.
Demonstrated ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams and communicate complex data concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Proven leadership experience, including building and mentoring data teams and managing cross-functional projects.
Relevant advanced degree (e.g., in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Public Health, or related field) or equivalent professional experience.
