Role Description The Chinese Consultant role is a remote contract position focused on advising clients on business activities involving China, including market understanding, communication, and cultural considerations. Day-to-day tasks may include conducting research on Chinese markets and regulations, reviewing and translating documents between Chinese and English, and preparing reports or summaries for client stakeholders. The consultant will support client meetings, provide guidance on culturally appropriate communication, and help clarify business expectations and practices. This role also involves collaborating with internal teams to ensure recommendations align with client goals, timelines, and compliance requirements. The consultant is expected to manage their own schedule, meet agreed deadlines, and maintain professional and confidential handling of client information.
Qualifications
Strong bilingual or multilingual skills, with professional proficiency in Chinese (Mandarin) and English for speaking, reading, and writing.
Demonstrated experience in consulting, advisory, or client-facing roles, preferably involving China-related projects or cross-border collaboration.
Knowledge of Chinese business practices, cultural norms, and general regulatory environment relevant to international business.
Ability to conduct structured research, analyze findings, and present clear, concise written reports and recommendations.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in remote, multicultural teams.
Strong organizational and time-management abilities, including handling multiple projects and meeting contract-based deadlines.
Proficiency with common digital collaboration tools (e.g., email, video conferencing, document-sharing platforms).
Bachelor’s degree in Business, International Relations, Asian Studies, Language, or a related field; equivalent experience will also be considered.
Prior experience living, studying, or working in China or with Chinese organizations is an advantage.
