Role Description RentoMojo does not hire or endorse “black hat hackers,” as this term refers to individuals who engage in illegal, unethical, or harmful activities such as unauthorized system access, data theft, or disruption of services. Instead, RentoMojo may employ ethical security professionals (often referred to as “ethical hackers” or “penetration testers”) to help safeguard its platforms and customer data. These professionals focus on identifying vulnerabilities with proper authorization, reporting and helping remediate risks, and strengthening security practices across the organization. Any security-related role at RentoMojo would be a full-time, remote position, carried out in strict adherence to legal requirements, industry standards, and ethical guidelines.
Qualifications
Strong foundation in information security principles, including secure network architecture, application security, and data protection.
Experience with authorized vulnerability assessment and penetration testing tools and methodologies (e.g., OWASP guidelines, common exploit frameworks) within legal and organizational boundaries.
Knowledge of secure coding practices and the ability to collaborate with engineering teams to remediate identified risks.
Understanding of relevant compliance and regulatory frameworks (such as GDPR, ISO 27001, or similar standards) and their practical implications.
Excellent analytical, documentation, and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical issues in clear, accessible language.
Demonstrated ethical conduct, integrity, and respect for privacy, with a track record of following responsible disclosure practices.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience in cybersecurity.
Industry certifications in security (e.g., CEH, OSCP, CISSP) are an advantage but not strictly required if skills and experience are demonstrated.
