What we’re building:
CrewUp is building an on-demand blue-collar workforce platform for businesses.
Consumers today have on-demand food, groceries, mobility and services. But businesses still struggle with a fundamental problem: workforce unpredictability.
A restaurant may need three extra people for the evening. A store may suddenly be short-staffed. Someone may not show up for a shift. Traditional hiring is too slow for these situations.
CrewUp is solving this by helping businesses access reliable, trained workers on demand — for a few hours, a day, a week or longer.
Our goal is to bring predictability to workforce management for businesses, while giving workers more flexible earning opportunities.
The role
We’re looking for an Operations & AI Intern who will work directly with both founders and help build CrewUp’s operations from the ground up. This is a high-ownership role. You’ll work across business operations, workforce management, training, customer experience, growth and process building.
This is also not a desk-only internship. You should be comfortable being on the ground, speaking to business owners and workers, and solving problems as they happen.
Business & stakeholder management
You’ll work closely with the businesses we onboard and make sure they have a consistently strong experience.
This will include:
Onboarding restaurants, cafés, stores and other business partners
Understanding their workforce requirements
Coordinating shifts and workforce requirements
Building relationships with business owners and managers
Handling feedback, issues and escalations
Ensuring high client satisfaction and repeat usage
Workforce operations
A major part of the role will involve building and managing a reliable workforce.
You’ll help with:
Recruiting and onboarding new workers
Understanding worker availability and preferences
Training workers for different roles
Maintaining quality and reliability benchmarks
Tracking attendance, performance and feedback
Improving worker engagement and retention
Helping build training processes and training centres as we scale
Live operations & problem solving
This is a real-world operations business, so things will not always go according to plan.
Workers may cancel. Clients may change requirements at the last minute. A shift may need to be filled immediately. You should be comfortable stepping in, understanding the problem and finding the fastest practical solution. We’re looking for someone who is resourceful, calm under pressure and naturally thinks in terms of “how do we get this done?”
Processes & SOPs
A big part of the role is turning what we learn on the ground into scalable systems.
You’ll help:
Identify recurring operational problems
Understand their root causes
Build SOPs around onboarding, training, fulfilment and quality
Ensure these processes are actually followed
Continuously improve them based on real-world feedback
The goal is to gradually convert messy manual operations into repeatable systems.
Growth
You’ll also help us figure out how to grow both sides of the marketplace.
This could include:
Building worker communities
Running referral programs
Working with local colleges and institutes
Testing WhatsApp and social media channels
Running hyperlocal and field acquisition experiments
Finding creative ways to acquire workers digitally and offline
We want someone who enjoys testing ideas and figuring out what actually works rather than simply following existing playbooks.
AI & automation
We believe many operational processes that are manual today can eventually be automated.
You’ll work with the founders to identify these opportunities and use AI tools to make operations faster and more scalable.
This could include AI for:
Recruitment and screening
Training
Worker communication
Customer support
SOP creation
Internal workflows
Data and operational analysis
You don’t need to be technical, but you should be comfortable experimenting with AI tools and learning quickly.
How we work
We’re a small team and strongly believe in first-principles thinking.
Instead of asking, “How is this usually done?”, we prefer asking:
What is the actual problem? Why does it exist? What is the simplest way to solve it?
You’ll work closely with both founders throughout this journey and get direct exposure to how an early-stage company is built.
You should be comfortable doing anything and everything reasonably required to help the business grow.

Bonus if you’ve previously worked in an early-stage startup, operations, growth, founder’s office, recruitment or community building.
