Role Description The Executive Director is a full-time, on-site leadership role based in Tamil Nadu, India, responsible for overseeing the overall strategic direction, operations, and sustainability of Rural People’s Sangam. Day-to-day tasks include leading program planning and implementation, managing budgets and financial reporting, and supervising staff while fostering a positive and inclusive workplace culture. The Executive Director will build and maintain relationships with community partners, government agencies, donors, and other stakeholders to strengthen the organization’s reach and impact. The role also involves developing fundraising strategies, preparing grant proposals, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and organizational policies. The Executive Director is expected to monitor program outcomes, report on progress to the governing body, and continuously identify opportunities for innovation and growth.
Qualifications
Demonstrated leadership experience in nonprofit, community development, or social sector organizations, with the ability to guide teams, manage change, and make informed decisions.
Strong skills in strategic planning, project management, and program evaluation, including the ability to set priorities, manage multiple initiatives, and measure impact.
Proficiency in financial management, budgeting, and resource allocation, with experience overseeing grants, donor funds, or organizational accounts.
Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities, including stakeholder engagement, partnership development, public speaking, and report writing.
Experience working with rural communities or grassroots initiatives, with cultural sensitivity and a commitment to inclusive, community-led development.
Ability to work on-site in Tamil Nadu, India, and travel within the region as needed for field visits, meetings, and community events.
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in social work, development studies, public administration, management, or a related field is preferred.
Fluency in English, with proficiency in Tamil or willingness to learn, will be an advantage.
