About the role
Description supplied by the original job listing.
We are building a performance-focused creative team and looking for a Consumer Psychologist to lead customer research and behavioral insight development.
Your role is to uncover how customers think, feel, and make purchasing decisions. You will analyze interviews, reviews, online communities, support conversations, advertising comments, competitors, and performance data to identify the emotional drivers behind customer behavior.
You will work closely with our founder and narrative scriptwriter. You will uncover the psychological truth; the writer will turn it into engaging video advertisements.
E-commerce experience is not required. We value rigorous research, intellectual curiosity, and original thinking over familiarity with conventional marketing formulas.
What you will do
Conduct and analyze customer interviews.
Study reviews, comments, communities, support conversations, and competitor feedback.
Identify customers’ desires, fears, beliefs, objections, identities, and purchasing triggers.
Distinguish what customers say they want from the deeper motivations influencing their decisions.
Create meaningful customer segments based on psychology and behavior—not only demographics.
Turn research findings into clear, testable advertising hypotheses.
Recommend customer avatars, emotional angles, stakes, objections, authority, and proof for the creative team to explore.
Produce concise insight briefs for scriptwriters and creative strategists.
Review scripts for psychological accuracy and authentic customer language.
Analyze advertising results to understand why particular messages performed well or poorly.
Maintain a library of customer language, validated insights, and creative learnings.
What we are looking for
Education in psychology, consumer psychology, social psychology, behavioral science, consumer behavior, or a related field.
Experience conducting qualitative interviews or behavioral research.
Experience analyzing interviews, reviews, comments, or other unstructured qualitative information.
Ability to identify meaningful patterns and translate them into actionable conclusions.
Strong written communication and an ability to explain psychological concepts clearly.
Comfort forming hypotheses, testing them, and changing your conclusions when the evidence disagrees.
Ability to collaborate closely with writers and other creative professionals.
Relevant backgrounds may include consumer psychology, social psychology, behavioral science, qualitative UX research, consumer-insights research, anthropology, ethnography, or academic psychology research.
What success looks like
Within your first 90 days, you will:
Develop a structured understanding of our customers and their buying journey.
Identify recurring emotional and behavioral patterns.
Build a customer-language and insights library.
Produce research briefs that generate new advertising concepts.
Establish a process connecting customer research, creative testing, and performance learnings.
Your success will ultimately be measured by the quality of your insights, the creative ideas they generate, and their contribution to advertising performance.
We treat advertising as a combination of human understanding, creative storytelling, and disciplined experimentation.
Compensation
RM5,000–RM7,000 per month, depending on experience, plus performance-based bonuses.
