About The Role
We are looking for a Functional Consultant – Purchase with strong hands-on experience in end-to-end procurement and purchase operations, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
The ideal candidate should have progressed from transactional purchasing to managing complex, multi-category procurement, including raw materials, capital expenditure, machinery, services, spares, consumables, job work and project procurement.
This role offers an opportunity to transition into ERP functional consulting, working with clients across multiple industries and gaining exposure to business process transformation and ERP implementation in SAP / Microsoft Dynamics environments.
Key Responsibilities End-to-End Procurement & Category Management
Manage procurement across multiple categories including:
Raw Materials
Packaging Materials
Spares
Consumables
Empties
Fixed Assets
Handle complete procurement cycles from requirement understanding through vendor finalization, negotiation, purchase order and delivery coordination.
Complex Procurement & Capex
Handle complex and high-value procurement activities including:
Machinery procurement
Capital expenditure (CAPEX)

Services
Long-term Rate Contracts
Strategic procurement arrangements
Contract & Lifecycle Management
Manage procurement-related contracts and commercial arrangements.
Handle Warranty, AMC, rate contracts and related procurement lifecycle activities.
Coordinate procurement and disposal processes related to scrap where applicable.
Strategic Sourcing
Execute different sourcing and purchasing models, including:
RFP
RFQ
Spot Purchase
Planning-based Purchase
BOQ-based Capital Procurement
Evaluate quotations, negotiate commercial terms and support vendor selection.
Stakeholder & Vendor Management
Coordinate with internal technical teams, project managers, engineering teams and other stakeholders.
Understand technical specifications and translate business requirements into procurement requirements.
Manage vendor communication, commercial negotiations and supplier relationships.
ERP & Process Consulting
Use ERP systems and procurement applications to manage and track purchase processes.
Understand procurement workflows, documentation and process controls.
Participate in ERP implementation and business process transformation projects.
Work with consultants and business stakeholders to understand existing processes and map them to ERP best practices.
Develop functional understanding of procurement processes in SAP and/or Microsoft Dynamics.
Candidate Requirements
4–10 years of hands-on experience in Purchase / Procurement.
Strong experience in end-to-end procurement operations.
Manufacturing industry experience is strongly preferred.
Experience across multiple procurement categories rather than a single category.
Exposure to CAPEX / machinery procurement and project procurement.
Experience with RFQ/RFP, vendor evaluation and commercial negotiation.
Good understanding of engineering/manufacturing materials and specifications.
Experience working with ERP systems.
Strong communication, stakeholder management and negotiation skills.
Ability to understand business processes and work towards process improvement.
Willingness to travel for client engagements, including international travel when required.
Candidates should be interested in developing a career in ERP Functional Consulting.
Preferred Background
Candidates who have progressed through a career path such as:
Transactional Purchase → Multi-Category Procurement → Strategic Sourcing → Complex/Project Procurement → ERP/Functional Consulting
will be particularly relevant.
What This Role Is NOT
Candidates with the following backgrounds will generally not be considered:
Single-category procurement experience only.
Pure PO-processing / PO-placing profiles.
Routine transactional purchasing without strategic sourcing exposure.
Administration procurement.
Facility management procurement.
Office supplies / pantry / general administration purchasing.
Candidates without exposure to vendor management or commercial negotiation.
Candidates unwilling to travel for client engagements.
