About The Role
The Human Resources Manager at SL Tennessee will play a pivotal role in overseeing the HR department's daily operations, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and compliance with legal standards. This leadership position requires a strategic thinker with a comprehensive understanding of HR functions, including employee relations, talent acquisition, performance management, compensation, and organizational development. The HR Manager will serve as a trusted advisor to management and employees alike, fostering a positive, inclusive, and high-performance workplace culture. This role involves collaborating with senior leadership to develop HR strategies that support business growth, enhance employee engagement, and promote organizational effectiveness. The HR Manager will also oversee HR policies and procedures, ensuring they are current, effective, and compliant with applicable laws and regulations. Additionally, this role includes supervising HR staff, managing HR metrics, and leading initiatives aimed at improving employee morale, retention, and workplace culture.
Qualifications
Minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience in Human Resources, demonstrating increasing responsibility and leadership capabilities.
At least three (3) years in a senior HR role such as HR Manager, Senior HR Generalist, or equivalent leadership position.
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; an equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered.
Strong knowledge of federal and state employment laws, including FLSA, FMLA, ADA, EEO, OSHA, and other relevant regulations.
Experience leading employee relations, performance management, recruiting, compensation, benefits, and compliance initiatives.
Manufacturing industry experience is preferred.
Professional HR certification such as SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR is highly desirable.
Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and build relationships across all levels of the organization.
Proven ability to develop and implement HR strategies that align with business objectives.
Responsibilities
The Human Resources Manager will be responsible for leading and managing all aspects of the HR department to support SL Tennessee’s strategic objectives. Key responsibilities include:
Overseeing the daily operations of the HR department, ensuring the delivery of high-quality HR services that support the organization’s goals and values.
Ensuring compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local employment laws, as well as company policies, procedures, and HR best practices.
Assisting in the development and management of the HR budget, monitoring departmental expenses to ensure efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
Partnering with senior leadership to develop and implement HR strategies that support business growth, talent acquisition, and employee retention.
Evaluating existing HR policies, procedures, and programs, recommending improvements to enhance operational efficiency and employee experience.
Developing and tracking HR metrics and KPIs to measure department performance and identify areas for continuous improvement.
Implementing HR programs focused on employee engagement, talent development, succession planning, and organizational effectiveness.
Supporting compensation programs through collaboration with relevant teams, including conducting market benchmarking, salary surveys, and pay equity analyses.
Partnering with the Talent Acquisition team and hiring managers to support workforce planning, recruitment, onboarding, and staffing initiatives.
Overseeing the performance management process by coaching managers, supporting employee development, and ensuring consistent application of performance standards.
Collaborating with Benefits, Payroll, and Training teams to administer employee benefits, manage leave policies, and support onboarding and training initiatives.
Providing guidance on employee relations, performance issues, policy interpretation, workplace investigations, and conflict resolution.
Partnering with legal counsel and leadership on employment-related matters to minimize organizational risk.
Maintaining current knowledge of employment laws, HR trends, and best practices to ensure ongoing compliance and continuous improvement.
Supervising, coaching, and developing HR team members to foster a collaborative, customer-focused, and high-performing department.
Developing initiatives to improve employee engagement, morale, retention, and overall workplace culture.
Promoting a positive, inclusive, and respectful work environment where employees feel valued and empowered to raise concerns.
Building and maintaining effective relationships with employees, leaders, external vendors, government agencies, and benefit providers.
Supporting organizational change initiatives and leading continuous improvement efforts within HR processes.
Performing additional duties and special projects as assigned by senior leadership.
