About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Backend Engineer to join our dynamic team remotely, working within US time zones. This is a contract-to-hire position designed for professionals who excel in developing scalable and reliable backend systems. As a key contributor, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining core backend services and APIs that power our marketplace products. Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have over five years of professional experience in backend development, demonstrating a proven track record of delivering robust production systems. Proficiency in Python and familiarity with modern API frameworks such as FastAPI are essential. Strong expertise in designing and implementing RESTful APIs, along with extensive experience working with relational databases like PostgreSQL, is required. Hands-on experience deploying and operating services within AWS environments, including containerization with Docker and CI/CD pipelines, is highly desirable. Candidates should possess excellent problem-solving skills, a pragmatic approach to quality, and a genuine enthusiasm for integrating AI tools into their workflow. Effective communication skills and the ability to work independently are also critical for success in this role.
Responsibilities
As a Senior Backend Engineer at Jobleap.ai, your core responsibilities will include designing, developing, and maintaining scalable, secure backend services and REST APIs that support our platform’s core functionality. You will take ownership of features from conception through deployment, ensuring reliability and performance in production environments. This involves modeling, evolving, and optimizing our PostgreSQL data layer, including schema design, indexing, and query performance tuning. You will also be responsible for integrating third-party APIs and internal services with a focus on fault tolerance and error handling. Writing automated tests and maintaining high standards for code quality and reliability are integral parts of your role.
Additionally, you will deploy and operate services within cloud environments such as AWS, utilizing CI/CD pipelines, logging, metrics, and alerting tools to ensure observability and operational excellence. Collaboration with product managers, frontend developers, and other engineering teams will be essential to deliver user-facing features efficiently and iteratively. The role encourages the use of AI-powered development tools like Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, and Copilot to accelerate development cycles, improve code quality, and foster innovation.
