About The Role
Embark on a transformative journey as a Senior RAD Developer at Barclays. This role is pivotal in shaping the future of banking technology by developing innovative software solutions that directly impact the company's profitability and customer experience. You will work closely with various desks within the Equity Derivatives Trading, Structuring, Sales, and Market Risk teams to design, develop, and enhance enterprise-level applications. Your contributions will support the retirement of legacy systems and the creation of next-generation platforms, enabling Barclays to respond swiftly to emerging market demands and regulatory requirements. This position is based in our New York, NY office and offers an exciting opportunity to influence high-stakes financial technology projects in a collaborative environment.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess considerable experience in enterprise-level software development using languages such as C++, Java, or C#, with a strong foundation in Test-Driven Development (TDD). Proficiency in Python programming is essential, along with knowledge of Excel VBA and interfacing with DLLs. Strong SQL skills, including DDL and DML, are required to manage and manipulate large datasets effectively. A demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex, distributed enterprise systems is highly valued. Additionally, candidates with front-end development experience, whether desktop or web-based, will have a competitive advantage. The candidate should be detail-oriented, accountable, possess excellent documentation habits, and work well within a team environment. A passion for continuous learning and staying current with industry trends is also important.
Responsibilities
Design, develop, and deliver high-quality, scalable, and maintainable software solutions using industry-standard programming languages, frameworks, and tools. Ensure code is optimized for performance and adheres to best practices.
Collaborate cross-functionally with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define requirements, develop solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration with existing systems and business objectives.
Participate in code reviews, promote a culture of technical excellence, and share knowledge with peers to foster continuous improvement.
Stay informed of technological advancements and industry trends, actively contributing to the organization’s technology communities to enhance technical capabilities.
Implement secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data, and ensure compliance with security standards.
Develop and execute comprehensive unit testing to verify code quality, reliability, and performance, ensuring robust software delivery.
Support the retirement of legacy systems while contributing to the development of innovative, next-generation platforms that meet evolving business needs.
Engage with stakeholders to understand their needs, translate requirements into technical solutions, and communicate progress effectively.
Document technical specifications, system designs, and operational procedures to ensure knowledge sharing and maintainability.
