Role Description:
The Harness Engineer is a full-time remote role responsible for designing, building, and maintaining test harnesses and integration frameworks for AI, ML, and data-driven systems. Day-to-day tasks include collaborating with data scientists and software engineers to understand model and system requirements, implementing automated test suites, and ensuring reliable deployment pipelines. The Harness Engineer will create tools and scripts to simulate production environments, validate performance and robustness, and detect edge cases early in the development lifecycle. This role also involves documenting harness architecture and test procedures, monitoring system behavior in staging environments, and continuously improving verification processes to support rapid, safe releases.
Qualifications:
Solid software engineering skills in languages commonly used for AI and data systems (such as Python, Java, or C++), with experience building tools, scripts, or frameworks.
Knowledge of testing and automation practices, including unit, integration, and end-to-end testing, as well as familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and version control systems.
Understanding of AI, Machine Learning, or Data Science workflows, including data pipelines, model training and evaluation, and deployment into production environments.
Experience working with cloud platforms or containerization technologies (such as AWS, Azure, GCP, Docker, or Kubernetes) to create realistic test environments.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate requirements into robust test scenarios and harness designs.
Effective written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to collaborate in a distributed, remote team setting.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
Background in safety, reliability, or performance engineering, and prior experience in AI or data-intensive products is a plus.
