About the Opportunity
The Director, Business Operations serves as a strategic and operational partner to the Vice President of Operations, leading a multidisciplinary team spanning business operations, program management, analytics, and operational efficiency. This role translates organizational strategy into clear priorities, decision-quality insights, and scalable operating plans that improve access, growth, workforce effectiveness, and financial performance.
Operating at the intersection of strategy and execution, this leader will manage complex cross-functional initiatives, establish structure amid ambiguity, build durable operating systems, and develop high-performing teams.
Role and Responsibilities
• Provide leadership and guidance to the team, developing, coordinating, and implementing systems, policies, procedures, and productivity standards to achieve goals and foster a collaborative environment.
• Oversee the planning, execution, and completion of projects, establishing operational processes and workflows to enhance efficiency, productivity, and overall performance.
• Implement operational best practices, monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), and develop strategies to achieve operational excellence.
• Set the analytical agenda for access, supply, and network optimization, connecting demand, provider capacity, and payer participation to operating and growth decisions.
• Lead analysis on retention, segmentation, utilization, and other critical metrics to establish a consistent business intelligence approach across the organization.
• Develop business cases and strategic recommendations for new markets, channels, service lines, partnerships, and strategic transactions.
• Lead the portfolio of cross-functional launches and transformations, including new payers, geographies, channels, service lines, integrations, and internal capabilities.
• Establish program governance, ownership, milestones, dependencies, and escalation paths while building reusable playbooks to make future launches faster and more predictable.
• Build workforce-planning capabilities, including demand and capacity forecasting, staffing models, scheduling optimization, and resource allocation.
• Drive workflow redesign, process standardization, automation, and tooling improvements to support scale without compromising access, quality, or team experience.
• Establish service level agreements (SLAs) and operating cadences, leveraging proactive insights to address bottlenecks and evaluate productivity, capacity, quality, and financial impact.
• Translate organizational strategy into operational priorities, direct annual and quarterly planning cadences for the function, and partner with executive leadership to incubate new capabilities.
Required Qualifications
• 6+ years of experience in business operations, strategy and operations, program leadership, operational excellence, or a comparable field, including at least 3 years in management consulting or investment banking.
• Proven track record of structuring ambiguous problems, developing analytically rigorous recommendations, and translating them into operating plans and measurable results.
• Experience leading complex, cross-functional initiatives and driving accountability across indirect teams.
• Strong quantitative and financial acumen, including advanced modeling in Excel or Google Sheets, with experience in forecasting, business cases, unit economics, performance metrics, and executive analysis.
• Demonstrated people-leadership experience with a track record of coaching and developing teams.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience creating decision memos and executive presentations that synthesize trade-offs and drive decisions.
• Strong organization and execution skills, with the ability to manage a broad portfolio while maintaining attention to detail.
• Demonstrated systems thinking, with the ability to translate complex workflows into durable mechanisms such as operating cadences, playbooks, SLAs, and dashboards.
• Practical experience applying AI tools to enhance analysis, workflow design, decision support, or operational productivity.
• High agency and comfort operating in dynamic environments where priorities evolve.
• Eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience at a top-tier strategy consulting firm followed by 3–5 years in an operating, strategy, or business operations role.
• MBA, another relevant advanced degree, or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience in healthcare, technology-enabled services, marketplaces, or environments where supply, demand, access, and service quality are managed concurrently.
• Experience building or leading business operations, program management, workforce management, operations analytics, continuous improvement, or automation capabilities.
• Familiarity with SQL, business intelligence platforms, workforce-planning systems, or related analytical and operational technologies.
Physical Requirements
• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Frequent communication via virtual meeting platforms.
• Ability to observe and communicate information using an organization-provided computer.
• Ability to occasionally lift or move up to 10 pounds.
