Role Description The Vice President of Procurement Business Development is a full-time remote role responsible for leading strategic procurement growth initiatives and building high-value supplier and partner relationships. This role oversees the development and execution of procurement strategies aligned with client business objectives, including sourcing, contract structuring, and supplier performance optimization. Day-to-day responsibilities include identifying new business opportunities, leading complex contract negotiations, and collaborating with internal consultants to design systems that improve procurement efficiency and reduce risk. The Vice President will analyze market trends, guide supplier development programs, and ensure procurement practices support inclusion, transparency, and measurable ROI. This role also involves presenting strategic recommendations to senior leadership, mentoring team members, and contributing to Sankey Consulting’s thought leadership in procurement and supply chain systems.
Qualifications
Strong expertise in Procurement and Supply Chain Management, with a track record of driving cost savings, risk mitigation, and strategic value.
Advanced skills in Contract Negotiation and Contract Management, including experience with complex, multi-party agreements and long-term commercial relationships.
Experience in Supplier Development, including performance management, capability building, and fostering diverse, high-performing supplier ecosystems.
Proven background in business development or commercial leadership, with the ability to identify growth opportunities and build executive-level client relationships.
Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills, with proficiency in using data and metrics to inform procurement and supply chain decisions.
Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional or remote teams, with a collaborative, inclusive leadership style.
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Finance, or a related field; an advanced degree or relevant professional certifications (e.g., CPSM, CSCP) are beneficial.
Familiarity with system-based approaches to inclusion, risk management, and compliance within procurement and vendor management environments.
