The company focuses on high productivity, shorter vessel turnaround times, and damage-free cargo handling. Seagreen handles over 15 million MT of bulk, break bulk, and project cargo annually, including railway handling, shore handling, and transportation. Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Shift Manager role based in Chennai. The Shift Manager will oversee daily stevedoring and cargo handling operations, ensuring safe, efficient, and damage-free handling of bulk, break bulk, and project cargo. Responsibilities include planning and allocating workforce and equipment, monitoring vessel operations, coordinating with port authorities, clients, and internal teams, and resolving operational issues during the shift. The role involves tracking shift performance, maintaining documentation and reports, enforcing safety and compliance standards, and supporting continuous improvement in productivity and turnaround time. The Shift Manager will also assist in training team members and ensuring adherence to company procedures.
Qualifications
Candidates should possess strong operational management skills, including shift planning, resource allocation, and supervision of on-ground teams.
Candidates should possess knowledge of stevedoring, cargo handling processes, and port operations (bulk, break bulk, and project cargo).
Candidates should possess skills in safety management, compliance with port and customs regulations, and risk mitigation.
Candidates should possess communication and coordination skills to work with clients, port officials, vendors, and internal departments.
Candidates should possess problem-solving abilities and decision-making skills to handle real-time operational challenges.
Relevant experience in logistics, stevedoring, shipping, or port operations is highly beneficial.
A diploma or degree in logistics, supply chain, marine, or related fields is preferred.
Willingness to work in shifts, including weekends and holidays, and to be present on-site at the port as required.
