Role Description The Carpets Designer role at ammar ruge is a full-time, on-site position located in Bhadohi. The designer will develop original carpet patterns, color palettes, and layouts, translating design concepts into detailed artwork suitable for weaving and production. Daily tasks include sketching and rendering designs (by hand or using design software), preparing technical specifications for the production team, and refining designs based on feedback from management and clients. The role involves researching trends in textiles, colors, and interior design, maintaining a library of design references, and ensuring designs align with brand guidelines, market preferences, and production capabilities. The designer will also collaborate with artisans, quality teams, and sales or merchandising staff to ensure final products meet aesthetic, functional, and quality standards.
Qualifications
Strong skills in carpet or textile design, including pattern creation, color theory, and layout development.
Proficiency in design tools (such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, or other textile design software) and hand sketching.
Ability to translate creative concepts into clear technical drawings and production-ready specifications.
Knowledge of weaving techniques, materials, and manufacturing processes used in carpet production is highly beneficial.
Attention to detail, good visual judgment, and the ability to iterate and refine designs based on feedback.
Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with artisans, production teams, and management.
Relevant diploma or degree in textile design, fashion design, fine arts, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Willingness to work on-site in Bhadohi and engage closely with local manufacturing and craft traditions.
