Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Data / MDM Architect to own the target-state design for customer master data. You will be responsible for the canonical model, matching and survivorship logic, and data-quality framework to transform fragmented records from multiple ERPs and Salesforce into a single trusted golden record per customer. You will define how identity is resolved, how the master is structured, and set the technical standards for data engineers. The design must later extend to product and vendor data.
Key Responsibilities
Define the canonical customer data model, including legal entity, accounts, sites, contacts, and hierarchy, along with mandatory attributes and standards.
Design matching rules (deterministic on strong identifiers such as tax ID or D-U-N-S, probabilistic/fuzzy on name and address) and survivorship rules for field value decisions.
Define the cross-reference approach — mapping one master ID back to each source’s local ID — and integration patterns for ERPs and Salesforce data ingestion and publish-back.
Lead build-versus-buy evaluations; if a platform is chosen, design its matching, survivorship, and stewardship-workflow configuration.
Establish a data-quality framework including profiling, rules, and KPI dashboards for duplicate rate, master-ID coverage, match precision, and completeness.
Define standardization and enrichment, using external reference data (e.g., Dun & Bradstreet, business registries) as reliable match keys.
Set technical standards and guide data engineers; ensure designs are environment-portable across Dev, SIT, and Prod, and consistent with existing Microsoft Fabric standards.
Partner with the data owner and stewards to translate business definitions into rules, set match thresholds, and design the steward review workflow.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Hands-on MDM experience — matching, survivorship, golden-record design, and stewardship — on real multi-source data, typically 8+ years in data architecture overall.
Experience with at least one enterprise MDM platform (e.g., Informatica, Reltio, Stibo, SAP MDG, Semarchy, or Profisee) or designing custom identity-resolution/matching solutions.
Strong data modeling skills, including party/customer models and corporate hierarchies.
Experience integrating multiple ERP systems, ideally with Salesforce, with a solid grasp of identity resolution across sources.
Proficiency in Microsoft Fabric and/or Azure Data Factory, Spark/Delta Lake, SQL, and Python.
Experience with data profiling and quality tooling, and address validation/standardization.
Designing for multi-environment deployment and CI/CD.
Ability to work with business stakeholders — turning definitions and disputes into agreed technical rules.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience establishing an MDM capability from scratch, ideally multi-domain (customer, product, vendor).
Familiarity with data-governance operating models and external reference data (D-U-N-S).
Experience with B2B customer hierarchies and family trees.
