Job Responsibilities
Perform fiber optic splicing for FTTH network deployment, maintenance, and restoration.
Handle single-mode fiber (SMF) and perform fusion splicing using a fusion splicing machine.
Prepare, joint, route, and terminate fiber cables properly.
Perform OTDR testing, power meter testing, and link-loss measurement.
Identify and troubleshoot fiber faults, high-loss points, and fiber cuts.
Maintain and repair ODF, FDB, FAT, joint closures, splitters, and fiber distribution networks.
Carry out fiber laying, dressing, termination, and patching as required.
Attend customer and network complaints related to fiber connectivity.
Coordinate with the NOC and field/network teams for fault restoration.
Maintain proper records of splicing, testing, fiber routes, and network faults.
Ensure all work is completed according to company standards and safety procedures.
Handle emergency fiber restoration and minimize network downtime.
Required Skills
Hands-on experience with FTTH fiber splicing and troubleshooting.
Knowledge of Fusion Splicer, OTDR, Optical Power Meter, VFL, and related fiber tools.
Basic knowledge of FTTH architecture, OLT, splitter, FDB/FAT, and ODF.
Ability to identify fiber faults and perform restoration work.
Good understanding of fiber optic cables and core identification.
Willingness to work in the field and attend emergency breakdowns.
Two-wheeler and valid driving licence preferred/required, depending on company requirements.
Qualifications
ITI / Diploma / equivalent technical qualification preferred.
Relevant experience in ISP, FTTH, telecom, or fiber-optic networks will be an advantage.
