Local Coordinator — International Student Exchange
Facilitate the exchange year for international high school teen leaders by finding a host family, a community, and a place to belong — while you earn income doing meaningful work!
World Link is an exchange student program that works with international high school students who have earned a merit-based scholarship through the U.S. Department of State. We focus on cultural exchange, local community connections, and student leadership development.
We are looking for community connectors to serve as Local Coordinators in select communities across the U.S.
This is a flexible, very part-time, 1099 contract position that combines relationship-building, community outreach, student support, and international exchange.
This IS primarily work from home but is NOT a desk job.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
As a World Link Local Coordinator, you will:
CONNECT — Build relationships in your community and recruit volunteer host families.
MATCH — Help match international students with your volunteer host families and schools.
SUPPORT — Maintain regular contact with students and host families and help navigate questions or challenges.
DEVELOP — Encourage students as they participate in school, community, leadership and cultural activities.
BUILD COMMUNITY — Help create meaningful connections between students, families and the communities they call home for the semester or school year.
You will receive training, guidance and support from the World Link team. You do not need previous exchange experience or a degree.
WHAT THIS ROLE REALLY TAKES
We want to be honest about the job.
The rewarding part is helping a young person’s dream come true and seeing the love and connection that grows between the student and host family! You get to be a part of forever connections that transform lives locally and around the world.
The challenging part is that host-family recruitment takes persistence.
You'll need to be willing to make phone calls, send messages, ask people for referrals, follow up, build relationships and keep going when the first few "no's" come.
You need to be comfortable working independently, managing your own time and taking ownership of your students and families. You will have the full support of our team, but you will be making it happen in your local community.
If you're looking for a position where tasks are assigned to you, this probably isn't it.
If you're a people person who wants to make things happen, we want to connect right away!
WHAT YOU'LL RECEIVE

WHO MAKES A GREAT WORLD LINK COORDINATOR?
Our best coordinators don't necessarily have exchange experience.
They are often:
PTA/PTO or booster parents
Youth group or youth organization leaders
Community or nonprofit volunteers
Professionals who want to be involved in community work in their free time
Coaches and mentors
Civic organization members
Foster/adoption advocates
Current or Retired educators or community leaders
People who have hosted an exchange student
People who simply seem to be able to get to know everyone
You don't need a huge social-media following.
You need to be a relationship builder.
You don't need to be an expert on international exchange.
You need curiosity, compassion and the willingness to learn.
You don't need to be a salesperson.
You do need to be willing to ask people to consider opening their home to a student.
WHY NOW?
World Link is currently expanding our Local Coordinator team in several communities, and we are moving quickly.
Our exchange program opportunities are growing! We have 45 YES scholarship students coming for one semester this January, in addition to 120 FLEX Global students coming in the Fall!
We're looking for people who can get involved now, complete training and begin building their local network.
