Skills and Competencies
Strong knowledge of debt capital markets, and sustainable and transition finance
Demonstrated analytical capabilities in sustainable finance, credit analysis or capital market transactions, with experience evaluating financing frameworks and corporate transition strategies an advantage
Strong understanding of Japan’s corporate and financial landscape, including issuers, financial institutions, investors, intermediaries, industry associations, and relevant market developments
Proven ability to form strong analytical judgements, build trusted relationships, communicate technical concepts clearly, and engage credibly with senior internal and external stakeholders
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Japanese and English, with the ability to produce clear analytical conclusions and deliver effective presentations in both languages
Strong project-management and organizational skills, with the ability to lead multiple complex assignments while maintaining analytical quality, responsiveness, and attention to detail
Collaborative and inclusive working style, with the ability to mentor colleagues, coordinate shared deliverables, and contribute independently to team initiatives
Comfort using technology and AI-enabled tools to support analytical workflows and operational efficiency, with a commitment to responsible and ethical AI use
Education
Bachelor’s degree required in finance, economics, environmental science, engineering, sustainable development, public policy, international relations, or another relevant discipline
Responsibilities
Lead sustainable finance assessments and strengthen Moody’s Ratings’ analytical franchise and market presence in Japan.
