The Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Interior Designer to lead interior design projects from concept development through design documentation, procurement, construction, installation, and completion.
The ideal candidate will combine strong creative vision with technical expertise, project-management capabilities, material knowledge, and attention to detail to deliver interiors that meet aesthetic, functional, commercial, technical, and operational requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Lead interior design projects from initial briefing and concept development through detailed design, construction, and handover.
Develop interior design concepts aligned with project objectives, brand requirements, user needs, and commercial expectations.
Translate client briefs, functional requirements, and project objectives into cohesive interior design solutions.
Conduct site analysis, existing-condition assessments, space studies, and design feasibility reviews.
Develop space-planning strategies covering circulation, functionality, adjacencies, capacity, zoning, and user experience.
Prepare concept designs, mood boards, material palettes, color schemes, furniture concepts, and design narratives.
Develop schematic designs and detailed interior design packages.
Produce or oversee plans, elevations, sections, reflected ceiling plans, joinery details, furniture layouts, finishes plans, and design documentation.
Coordinate interior design requirements with architecture, structural, MEP, lighting, acoustics, technology, security, and specialist disciplines.
Ensure interior design solutions are technically coordinated and practical to construct.
Develop furniture, fixtures, and equipment strategies appropriate to project requirements.
Select furniture, finishes, fabrics, fixtures, accessories, hardware, surfaces, and other interior materials.
Develop comprehensive material and finish schedules and ensure accurate documentation.
Research and evaluate materials, products, suppliers, manufacturers, and emerging interior-design solutions.
Ensure materials meet required performance, durability, sustainability, safety, maintenance, and aesthetic criteria.
Develop custom furniture, joinery, millwork, feature elements, and bespoke interior components.
Coordinate detailed joinery and furniture design with specialist manufacturers and contractors.
Review shop drawings, material samples, mock-ups, prototypes, and technical submissions.
Conduct design reviews and verify that construction and fabrication reflect approved design intent.
Participate in site inspections, design coordination meetings, contractor meetings, and project reviews.
Identify design discrepancies, quality issues, construction deviations, and coordination problems.
Provide practical solutions to design and construction issues while protecting overall design intent.
Review contractor proposals, substitutions, value-engineering options, and alternative materials.
Evaluate proposed changes based on design quality, performance, cost, schedule, durability, and project requirements.
Coordinate with procurement teams on sourcing, lead times, specifications, budgets, and product availability.
Support tender documentation, supplier evaluation, quotations, and procurement activities.
Review supplier and contractor pricing for furniture, finishes, fixtures, joinery, and interior elements.
Monitor design-related budgets and identify opportunities for cost optimization without compromising critical design objectives.
Coordinate with project managers to maintain design schedules, deliverables, milestones, and dependencies.
Manage multiple design packages, projects, priorities, and deadlines.
Prepare presentations, design boards, renderings, material samples, and client approval packages.
Present design concepts, recommendations, options, and design-development updates to clients and senior stakeholders.
Incorporate client feedback while maintaining design consistency, technical feasibility, and project objectives.
Maintain design standards, templates, libraries, specifications, and documentation systems.
Establish and maintain project-specific design guidelines and interior standards.
Ensure designs comply with applicable building regulations, accessibility requirements, fire and life-safety requirements, health and safety standards, and project-specific codes.
Integrate accessibility and inclusive-design principles into interior environments.
Incorporate sustainable design strategies relating to materials, energy, water, indoor environmental quality, waste, and lifecycle performance.
Consider indoor air quality, acoustics, thermal comfort, lighting, ergonomics, and occupant wellbeing in design decisions.
Support green-building certification and sustainability requirements where applicable.
Coordinate lighting concepts and fixture selections with lighting designers and electrical engineers.
Coordinate acoustic treatments and interior finishes with acoustic specialists where required.
Integrate technology, audiovisual, security, smart-building, and workplace systems into interior design solutions.
Develop interior environments that support brand identity, customer experience, employee experience, and operational requirements.
Conduct benchmarking and research into hospitality, workplace, residential, retail, healthcare, commercial, and other relevant interior-design trends.
Evaluate emerging materials, digital tools, visualization technologies, sustainable products, and innovative interior solutions.
Manage relationships with design consultants, manufacturers, suppliers, contractors, artisans, and specialist vendors.
Review external consultant deliverables and ensure consistency with project design objectives.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior and intermediate interior designers.
Conduct design quality reviews and ensure deliverables meet required professional standards.
Maintain accurate project documentation, drawing registers, material schedules, specifications, approvals, and design records.
Support project closeout, snagging, defect resolution, final inspections, and handover activities.
Review completed spaces and identify lessons learned and opportunities for future design improvements.
Support business development through proposals, design presentations, project interviews, fee estimates, and client pitches.

Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate should have strong experience in interior design, interior architecture, hospitality design, workplace design, residential design, retail design, commercial interiors, luxury interiors, or multidisciplinary design, preferably within an architecture, design consultancy, real estate, hospitality, construction, or international project environment.
