CompCrafter is an AI-powered HR platform.
We help companies plan compensation and help employees actually see and understand the full value of what they're paid. We are extending our current offering into building out a full agentic HR Information System for the African market.
The role
You'll own the backend of our new HRIS.
That means designing the core systems, making key technical calls and shipping quickly as we get the platform in front of our first customers.
You'll report to our Engineering Manager.
What you'll do
Design, build and maintain APIs and backend services
Own our data models and databases, keeping sensitive pay data secure
Integrate with HR, payroll and third-party systems
Support AI features across the product
Write clean, tested code and review others' code
Help make technical decisions as we scale
Requirements
1-3 years of backend development experience
Strong TypeScript and Node.js skills
Deep experience with PostgreSQL
Hands-on AWS experience
Experience building secure auth systems
Experience with WebSockets or other real-time systems
Comfortable working independently in a fast-moving startup
Nice to have
Experience integrating LLM APIs like OpenAI
Familiarity with Next.js and Vercel
Experience with Supabase
Background in HR tech, fintech or payroll
