Associate/Principal Consultant - Environmental Approvals, Closure and Management

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Principal Consultant to join our recognised Environmental Approvals, Closure and Management team based in Perth. The team provides a wide range of project management, due diligence, environmental impact assessment and approvals under the EP Act, EPBC Act, BC Act and Mining Act. The EAC&M team works closely with other specialist teams in SLR to deliver a complete environmental service to clients across a range of sectors.
This role will best suit someone with 15+ years of experience within a consulting government or industry environment. With strengths mentorship of team members and developing client relationships across the region.
Working alongside the Perth EAM&C Team Lead, this role is pivotal to foster the continued growth and success of the business in Western Australia. We also work closely with colleagues based in Darwin, providing opportunities to support projects across both jurisdictions
You will collaborate on projects and initiatives with the wider national EAC&M team as well as across multidisciplinary areas in the business. This role is pivotal in the continued development of the team and the growth of the discipline on a national scale.
Job Tasks and Responsibilities
Providing advice regarding best practice environmental and management principles to clients and internal SLR team member
Assisting in the development and implementation of team business plans and strategies
Developing, facilitating and enhancing effective relationships with our clients and internal SLR team members
Leading the development of environmental impact assessments, management plans and supporting our clients through their compliance and closure journey
Working within and leading multidisciplinary teams to deliver projects across a range of sectors
Delivering clear and precise, high-quality reports
Occasional travel to site may be required.
Skills and Experience
Experience in the mining, infrastructure and renewables sectors is essential
A degree in Environmental Science, Engineering or a related field
Ability to win work through business development and demonstrated client management expertise
Demonstrated experience managing multidisciplinary projects
Demonstrated experience delivering WA and Commonwealth approvals, including an excellent and contemporary knowledge of environmental legislation and policies, standards and guidelines
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Full working rights in Australia
A valid WA Driver’s Licence
The following would be highly valued, but are not pre-requisites:
Experience working under Northern Territory legislation
Experience in the land development and/or agribusiness sectors
