Contract: 6-month contract
Location: Remote, Europe
Rate: Up to €50-€100 per day DOE
Start: ASAP
We’re supporting a UK SaaS business building a new European engineering team to deliver a major product modernisation programme.
We’re looking for hands-on Software Engineers to join a cross-functional squad and take ownership of features and technical improvements from development through to production.
The initial project will focus on modernising a legacy SaaS platform, rebuilding key areas of the frontend in React and improving existing services, APIs and integrations.
The environment is highly AI-enabled, with AI development tools embedded throughout the software development lifecycle. We’re therefore looking for engineers who have already adopted AI-assisted development or are genuinely enthusiastic about working this way.
What you’ll be doing
• Build and improve features across a large existing SaaS application
• Help modernise and rebuild legacy frontend functionality in React
• Take ownership of features and technical improvements through to production
• Design clean, maintainable components with clear responsibilities and interfaces
• Work with existing services, APIs and integrations
• Write clean, readable and maintainable production code
• Write and maintain automated tests covering core functionality and edge cases
• Contribute to technical discussions, code reviews and engineering ceremonies
• Work closely with Product, Design, QA and Engineering stakeholders
• Work within established CI/CD, version control and release processes
• Use monitoring, logging and observability tools to investigate production issues
• Identify blockers, dependencies and technical risks early
• Use AI-assisted development tools across coding, testing, debugging, refactoring and documentation
• Maintain strong standards around testing, security, reliability and production quality
What we’re looking for
• Strong commercial software engineering experience
• Strong experience with React and modern frontend development
• Experience building and shipping software into production
• Experience working with APIs and modern web architectures
• Experience working with existing or legacy applications and improving them over time
• Good understanding of software design and component architecture
• Strong problem-solving and debugging skills
• Experience with automated testing and code reviews
• Strong understanding of CI/CD and modern development workflows
• Exposure to cloud-based production environments
• Experience working in Agile, cross-functional product teams
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Comfortable working in environments with limited documentation and taking ownership quickly
• Experience using AI coding tools such as Claude, Cursor, GitHub Copilot or similar is highly desirable
