Team Leader- Aerodynamicist (UAVs)

Role Description The Team Leader – Aerodynamicist (UAVs) is a full-time, on-site role based in Chandigarh. This role is responsible for leading the aerodynamic design, analysis, and optimization of Large fixed wing unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) or small aircrafts, ensuring performance, stability, and efficiency targets are met. Day-to-day tasks include overseeing CFD simulations, wind tunnel or flight test data interpretation, and collaborating with structural, controls, and software teams to integrate aerodynamic solutions. The Team Leader will guide a small technical team, review design work, coordinate project timelines, and communicate technical findings to stakeholders. The role also involves maintaining documentation, supporting design automation and CAD workflows, and contributing to continuous improvement of tools and processes.
Qualifications
Candidates should possess strong expertise in aerodynamics, fluid mechanics, CG Analysis, Static & Dynamic stability, Static Margin Calculations,Control Analysis and flight mechanics, particularly applied to Large fixed wing UAVs or small aircraft.
Candidates should possess skills in CFD tools and simulation software (e.g., ANSYS Fluent, OpenFOAM, or similar) for aerodynamic analysis and optimization.
Candidates should possess proficiency in CAD and design tools for airframe and component modeling, with experience in design automation or CAD customization considered an advantage.
Candidates should possess experience with UAV system integration, including collaboration with structures (FEA), propulsion, guidance, and control teams.
Candidates should possess team leadership and project management skills, including task planning, mentoring, and cross-functional coordination.
Candidates should possess strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical documentation skills, with clear written and verbal communication abilities.
Beneficial qualifications include a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field, and familiarity with relevant industry and quality standards.
Experience in experimental aerodynamics, flight testing, or performance validation for UAVs, and prior work in a consulting or engineering services environment, would be advantageous.
4+ Experience specializing Large Fixed Wing UAVs or VTOL UAV development
Salary Range : INR 7-8 Lakhs per annum
