The Opportunity
Our client is seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer to lead the design and execution of large-scale hyperscale data center projects. This individual will serve as a technical leader, oversee electrical system design, act as Engineer of Record, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams throughout the project lifecycle.
This is an opportunity to work on highly visible mission-critical developments while helping shape the electrical engineering strategy for a growing data center practice.
Key Responsibilities
Lead electrical design for hyperscale and mission-critical data center facilities
Serve as Engineer of Record and provide technical oversight on project deliverables
Design medium-voltage and low-voltage power distribution systems, backup generation, UPS systems, grounding, and related critical infrastructure
Perform and review power system studies including short-circuit, coordination, load flow, and arc flash analyses
Coordinate with mechanical, structural, telecom, fire protection, and construction teams
Develop design criteria, specifications, drawings, reports, and construction documentation
Support client meetings and provide technical leadership throughout design and construction
Participate in site visits, field investigations, commissioning activities, and design reviews
Mentor junior engineers and contribute to quality assurance initiatives across projects
Stay current on emerging data center technologies, power infrastructure trends, and industry best practices
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering
Professional Engineer (PE) license required
10+ years of electrical engineering experience
Extensive experience designing electrical systems for data centers, mission-critical facilities, or other complex industrial infrastructure
Strong understanding of NEC, NFPA, IBC, and applicable industry standards
Experience with power system analysis software such as SKM, ETAP, EasyPower, or similar platforms
Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and BIM coordination workflows
Experience performing electrical system studies and developing construction documents
Excellent communication and client-facing skills
Ability to travel periodically to project sites and client locations
