I. Position Overview
The Product Operations Director is responsible for establishing and optimizing the end-to-end operations framework—spanning planning, development, and launch through to ongoing operations—to effectively align product strategy with business objectives. This role requires coordinating cross-functional teams (including Product, R&D, Marketing, Sales, Customer Success, Data Analytics, and Operations) to ensure high-quality, on-schedule product launches while continuously enhancing user value and commercial performance.
The role also oversees product operations processes, performance metrics, data analysis, product launches, user feedback, operational efficiency, and continuous improvement, providing operational analysis and decision-making support to the product management team and company leadership.
II. Key Responsibilities
1. Product Operations Strategy
Formulate and execute product operations strategies and annual operational plans.
Translate corporate business strategy into specific product operations goals and execution plans.
Establish operational mechanisms covering the entire product lifecycle.
Drive effective alignment between product strategy, market demand, and actual business operations.
Continuously adjust product operations strategies based on changes in the market, customer needs, and business conditions.
2. Product Lifecycle Management
Participate in product planning, development, testing, launch, and post-launch optimization.
Establish standardized processes for product launches and go-live.
Coordinate with Product, R&D, Marketing, Sales, and Customer Service teams to execute product launches.
Monitor post-launch usage, customer feedback, and business performance.
Drive product iteration, feature optimization, and operational improvements.
3. Product Operations Process Development
Establish and continuously optimize product operations processes, standards, and workflows.
Identify efficiency bottlenecks and process risks within product operations.
Drive the standardization and automation of cross-departmental workflows.
Develop documentation, process specifications, and management policies for product operations.
Enhance execution efficiency from product planning through to commercialization.
4. Data Analysis and Performance Management
Establish a framework of core product operations metrics and dashboards.
Analyze user growth, engagement, retention rates, conversion rates, revenue, and product usage patterns.
Provide regular product operations reports and business analyses.
Identify growth opportunities and operational issues based on data insights.
Collaborate with Finance, Data Analytics, and business teams to evaluate commercial performance.
5. User and Market Operations
Collect and analyze feedback from customers, users, and the market.
Establish a closed-loop feedback system to ensure timely resolution of issues.
Collaborate with Marketing and Customer Success teams to boost user adoption and customer satisfaction. Identify shifts in user needs and provide improvement recommendations to the product team.
Support product commercialization, go-to-market strategies, and customer growth initiatives.
6. Cross-functional Collaboration
Coordinate across product, engineering, design, marketing, sales, customer success, and operations teams.
Drive cross-functional projects to completion according to schedule.
Resolve issues regarding resources, processes, and execution that arise during product operations.
Establish clear roles and responsibilities, communication mechanisms, and project cadences.
Report key product operations progress and risks to senior management.
7. Team Management
Manage the product operations team and define team objectives.
Oversee recruitment, training, performance evaluation, and talent development.
Establish efficient operational workflows and a strong team culture.
Cultivate talent in product operations, data analysis, and project management.
Strategically plan team resources in alignment with business growth.
8. Continuous Improvement and Innovation
Continuously evaluate operational efficiency and commercial performance.
Drive automation, digitalization, and process optimization within product operations.
Research industry best practices and competitors' operational models.
Implement new tools, processes, and operational models.
Provide operational support for product growth and business expansion.
III. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Product Management, Business Administration, Marketing, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
20+ years of experience in product operations, product management, business operations, or related roles.
8+ years of experience in product operations management or team leadership.
Experience managing the full product lifecycle.
Familiarity with product planning, launch, user operations, data analysis, and continuous optimization processes.
Strong capabilities in data analysis, project management, and problem-solving.
Ability to effectively coordinate multiple cross-functional teams.
Strong business acumen and execution capabilities.
Ability to use data to support product and business decisions.
Excellent English communication, writing, and executive-level reporting skills.
