Position Summary
Language Testing International is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Software Engineer to play a critical role in the analysis, design, development, delivery, and support of applications that power our language proficiency assessment products and services.
This position will contribute throughout the full software development lifecycle to deliver scalable, secure, and high-performing solutions. The ideal candidate is a hands-on engineer with strong full-stack development experience, a collaborative mindset, and a passion for continuous improvement and innovation.
This is a full-time, exempt position reporting to the Vice President of Technology.
Key Responsibilities
Software Design & Development
Collaborate with Product Management and technical stakeholders to analyze requirements, evaluate technical approaches, estimate work effort, and support successful product delivery.
Design and develop scalable, reliable, secure, and maintainable software solutions aligned with enterprise architecture standards and best practices.
Build and maintain full-stack applications, APIs, database components, and supporting infrastructure.
Write clean, efficient, well-tested, and production-ready code that meets performance and quality standards.
Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve complex technical issues across applications and environments.
Architecture & Engineering Excellence
Participate in technical design discussions and contribute to architectural decisions that support long-term scalability, security, and reliability.
Conduct and participate in code reviews, providing constructive feedback and promoting engineering best practices.
Champion secure coding principles and ensure compliance with applicable security, privacy, and regulatory requirements.
Quality & Continuous Improvement
Support quality assurance efforts through unit testing, automated testing, defect resolution, and continuous integration practices.
Partner with QA teams to ensure timely delivery of high-quality software releases.
Identify opportunities to improve development processes, tools, frameworks, and system performance.
Stay current with emerging technologies and recommend innovative solutions that enhance product capabilities and engineering effectiveness.
Collaboration & Leadership
Collaborate effectively within cross-functional Agile teams.
Serve as a technical mentor and resource for other engineers, sharing knowledge and promoting continuous learning.
Contribute to a culture of accountability, innovation, collaboration, and technical excellence.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field; equivalent professional experience will be considered.
10+ years of experience designing, developing, and delivering enterprise-level software applications and web-based solutions.
Strong understanding of object-oriented programming principles, software design patterns, data structures, and algorithms.
Experience working within Agile development methodologies and Scrum-based teams.
Demonstrated ability to deliver complex technical solutions across the full software development lifecycle.
Technical Skills & Experience
Required
Full-stack software development experience, including:
Modern front-end frameworks such as Angular and/or Vue.js
PHP and the Laravel framework
Microsoft SQL Server and MySQL databases
RESTful API design and integration utilizing JSON and XML
Development environments and IDEs such as PHPStorm, Visual Studio
Agile collaboration tools including Jira and Confluence
Git-based source control platforms such as GitHub
Preferred
Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and cloud-native application architectures.
AWS Lambda
Amazon SQS
Amazon EC2/ECS
Terraform
Knowledge of C#, .NET and .NET Core development stacks
DevOps experience supporting CI/CD pipelines using tools such as:
GitHub Actions
SonarQube
Knowledge of secure software development practices and frameworks, including:
OWASP
NIST Cybersecurity Framework
Experience operating within compliance environments such as:
SOC 2
GDPR
Familiarity with AI-assisted software development tools, including GitHub Copilot, Claude, Codex, Kiro, or similar technologies.
Compensation & Benefits
Annual salary range: $140,000 to $160,000, commensurate with experience, skills, and qualifications.
