Role: CAD / R&D Process Improvement Engineer
Location: Remote
Rate: $40-44/Hr on W2.
Position Overview
We are seeking a hands-on Engineer with experience in medical device manufacturing, production, engineering, or R&D environments to improve engineering workflows, CAD platforms, integrations, and the overall engineering/customer experience.
This role requires someone who understands how engineering teams actually work—from concept and design through R&D, development, and production. The ideal candidate can identify workflow issues, challenge existing processes, and implement practical improvements.
This is NOT an IT, Scrum Master, Project Manager, or Systems Administrator role. We need an engineer with firsthand experience working with engineering/manufacturing teams and a strong understanding of real-world product development and manufacturing processes.
eCAD experience is highly preferred.Candidates with strong CAD integration experience and hands-on experience with SolidWorks, Creo, NX, or similar CAD platforms are encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities
Work directly with engineering, R&D, and manufacturing teams to understand workflows, challenges, and pain points.
Evaluate and improve CAD processes, integrations, and engineering workflows.
Identify inefficiencies and develop practical solutions to improve engineering productivity and user/customer experience.
Apply hands-on manufacturing and production knowledge to identify opportunities for process improvement.
Understand the complete R&D/product development lifecycle, from concept and design through development and production.
Challenge existing processes and assumptions and drive continuous improvement.
Collaborate with engineers, designers, manufacturing personnel, and other technical stakeholders to understand requirements and implement improvements.
Leverage knowledge of CAD platforms, engineering tools, and workflows to improve integration, usability, and efficiency.
Analyze complex and ambiguous technical problems and develop practical solutions.
Help bridge the gap between CAD, engineering, R&D, manufacturing, and production operations.
Required Qualifications
Medical device industry experience – REQUIRED.
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field, or equivalent hands-on engineering experience.
Hands-on professional experience in engineering, manufacturing, production, R&D, or a similar technical environment.
Hands-on experience with CAD platforms such as SolidWorks, Creo, NX, or similar.
Experience with CAD integrations, engineering workflows, or CAD-related process improvement.
Strong understanding of the product development lifecycle from concept through production.
Ability to understand complex technical problems and translate them into practical process improvements.
Demonstrated ability to challenge existing processes and identify better ways of working.
Strong communication, analytical, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Recent client references – REQUIRED.
Preferred Qualifications
eCAD experience – highly preferred and a significant differentiator.
Hands-on experience with Windchill.
Experience with PLM systems and CAD/PLM integrations.
Experience supporting engineering teams in manufacturing or production environments.
Experience with continuous improvement, process optimization, or operational excellence.
Experience working across Engineering, R&D, Manufacturing, and Production teams.
