Job Description
We are seeking an experienced SAP Digital Manufacturing / Smart Factory Architect to lead the design and implementation of digital manufacturing solutions that connect SAP manufacturing processes, shop-floor systems, IoT, automation, analytics, and enterprise applications.
The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in SAP Digital Manufacturing (SAP DM), SAP S/4HANA Manufacturing, Industry 4.0, MES, IIoT, and Smart Factory architecture. This role will be responsible for defining the overall solution architecture, integrating shop-floor and enterprise systems, and driving manufacturing transformation initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Design and define the end-to-end architecture for SAP Digital Manufacturing and Smart Factory solutions.
Lead SAP Digital Manufacturing implementations, integrations, and global rollouts.
Define architecture integrating SAP Digital Manufacturing, SAP S/4HANA, MES, ERP, PLM, EWM, Quality Management, and shop-floor systems.
Design integration between SAP Digital Manufacturing and machines, PLCs, SCADA, historians, sensors, IoT platforms, and automation systems.
Develop Industry 4.0 / Smart Factory strategies and technology roadmaps.
Translate manufacturing business requirements into scalable and sustainable SAP digital manufacturing solutions.
Design and implement integration using APIs, REST/OData, event-driven architectures, middleware, and SAP Integration Suite.
Establish standards for master data, production processes, equipment, work centers, operations, materials, and production orders.
Define solutions for production execution, production monitoring, quality, traceability, genealogy, OEE, downtime, and shop-floor performance.
Work closely with manufacturing, engineering, quality, supply chain, IT, and business stakeholders.
Evaluate existing manufacturing technology landscapes and identify opportunities for modernization and automation.
Lead technical design discussions and provide architectural guidance to development and implementation teams.
Ensure solutions comply with enterprise security, integration, scalability, performance, and governance standards.
Support proof-of-concepts, solution demonstrations, technical assessments, and architecture reviews.
Provide technical leadership during implementation, testing, deployment, and production support.
Mentor SAP DM/MES/Smart Factory technical teams.
Required Skills & Experience
10+ years of experience in SAP manufacturing, MES, digital manufacturing, or related technology domains.
Strong hands-on and architectural experience with SAP Digital Manufacturing (SAP DM).
Strong knowledge of SAP S/4HANA Manufacturing, including Production Planning (PP).
Experience designing and implementing MES / MOM / Smart Factory solutions.
Strong understanding of Industry 4.0 and manufacturing digital transformation.
Experience integrating SAP with shop-floor systems, PLCs, SCADA, IoT devices, machines, and automation platforms.
Strong understanding of manufacturing processes including:

Experience with SAP BTP and SAP Integration Suite.
Strong knowledge of REST APIs, OData, event-driven integration, web services, and middleware.

Strong understanding of SAP master data and manufacturing data models.
Experience working with global manufacturing organizations and distributed manufacturing environments.
Preferred Qualifications
SAP Digital Manufacturing certification.
Experience with SAP ME/MII and migration or modernization toward SAP Digital Manufacturing.
Experience with SAP S/4HANA Cloud.
Knowledge of SAP EWM, SAP QM, SAP PP/DS, and SAP IBP integration.
Experience with IoT platforms, edge computing, industrial protocols, and connected-factory technologies.
Knowledge of OPC UA, MQTT, REST APIs, and industrial communication protocols.
Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud.
Experience with manufacturing analytics, dashboards, and KPI/OEE solutions.
Experience in pharmaceutical, life sciences, automotive, consumer products, or other discrete/process manufacturing environments is a plus.
