Position Summary
SMX Services & Consulting, Inc. is seeking an experienced Microsoft 365 Migration Cloud Engineer to support a Microsoft 365 migration project for Suffolk County Government in New York.
The selected consultant will provide technical support for Microsoft 365 migration activities and assist with the planning, preparation, execution, validation, and completion of migration activities within the project's defined scope.
This is a fully remote, project-based position. The engagement is expected to begin following approval/issuance of the Purchase Order and continue through project completion, with May 20, 2027 identified as the project's support endpoint.
Key Responsibilities
The Microsoft 365 Migration Cloud Engineer will support migration activities that may include:
Support planning and execution of Microsoft 365 migration activities.
Assess source and target environments as required for assigned migration activities.
Assist with migration readiness and technical preparation.
Support configuration and administration activities associated with the Microsoft 365 environment.
Execute assigned migration activities in accordance with the approved migration plan.
Identify and troubleshoot technical issues encountered during migration.
Support data validation and post-migration verification.
Investigate migration failures, configuration issues, and user-impacting technical problems.
Assist with testing before and after migration activities.
Document migration activities, technical configurations, issues, resolutions, and project status.
Coordinate with County technical personnel and other project stakeholders as required.
Follow established change, security, access, and technical procedures.
Assist with cutover and post-migration support activities as required by the project.
Escalate risks, technical blockers, and migration issues to the appropriate project leadership.
Support successful completion and acceptance of assigned migration activities.
Required Qualifications
Candidates should possess professional experience supporting Microsoft enterprise, cloud, infrastructure, or migration environments.
Qualified candidates should demonstrate:
Hands-on experience with Microsoft cloud or enterprise technology environments.
Experience supporting cloud migration, deployment, implementation, or systems integration projects.
Strong troubleshooting and technical problem-solving skills.
Ability to analyze technical issues and implement appropriate resolutions.
Experience documenting technical configurations, migration activities, issues, and resolutions.
Ability to work independently in a remote project environment.
Ability to communicate effectively with technical teams, project leadership, and customer stakeholders.
Strong attention to detail during migration, testing, and validation activities.
Ability to follow customer security, confidentiality, and change-management requirements.
Preferred Technical Experience
Experience in one or more of the following areas is desirable for this Microsoft 365 migration engagement:

Work Environment
Work Location: Remote
All work may be performed remotely under the RFQ.
The consultant must be able to work effectively with Suffolk County Government personnel and other project stakeholders in a professional remote environment.
Background Check and Confidentiality Requirements
The successful candidate must either:
Provide evidence of a recent acceptable background check; or
Agree to a background check performed by Suffolk County Government.
The selected candidate must also agree to execute a Suffolk County Government-issued Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA).
Security Clearance
No CUI, Secret, Top Secret, or other federal personnel security clearance requirement has been identified in the RFQ information currently available.
Any additional security or access requirements contained in the final project documentation will apply.
Compensation
Hourly Pay Range: $66.30-$68.90
Final compensation within the stated range will be based on the candidate's relevant Microsoft 365/cloud migration experience, technical qualifications, and alignment with the project requirements.
Project Schedule
The anticipated project period is approximately 33 weeks, depending on the actual Purchase Order approval/start date.
Start: Following Purchase Order approval and project authorization
End: May 20, 2027, or completion of the project
The actual assignment duration and work hours will depend on project requirements and the final migration schedule.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a hands-on Microsoft cloud professional who has participated in enterprise migration or deployment projects and is comfortable working through migration planning, execution, troubleshooting, validation, and post-migration support.
The candidate should be able to work independently while coordinating effectively with customer and project teams in a fully remote environment.
